Normally I put a tree in our family room but I hate changing everything around and space is limited in there. So this year I decided to put our tree in our Kitchen.
The only thing I moved was my farm table and chair. This tree is the perfect size for our kitchen and I love the soft glow of the lights at night too! I put the tree inside the trunk that I had in my creative space. You can see that HERE
I moved the chair so you could see the trunk. This tree fit perfect and no need for a skirt.Plus the barn door and trunk hide all the cords! We won’t put gifts under this tree.We have another tree in our living room.
I added some fresh greens to the door and added some vintage ice skates too!
Keeping things very simple.
French Paper whites waiting to bloom.
Fresh greens in my white ironstone pitcher. And some pine cones and greens in my scale too!
I normally do not decorate before Thanksgiving. But I am working at my space the day after so I thought I would give myself a head start. The nice thing is keeping it simple did not take long to do! My daughter is decorating her room today. She wants to put her tree up and add her Peanuts and Rudolph decorations in her room.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I think your home is delightful! I love the idea of the xmas tree in the kitchen. Like that you can enjoy it all day long too. At the moment i only have one tree. When I put it in the lounge room last year we really didn’t get to enjoy it much. My lounge room is a bit out of the way as we always use the back door instead of the front so it’s not a room you pass every day. So this year I will be putting it in the family room, which is adjacent to my dining room/kitchen, so we can enjoy it all day long and night too! I think your simplified look, looks great! take care, Maryann

Isn’t it nice to get your home just the way you want it? I love all the whites and the pretty but simple details. Your tree is darling. I can’t believe how BIG your kitchen is! Lucky you! I keep meaning to bring some ice skates home from our lakehouse, I love how they look hanging on a door. I wanted to use red shoelaces and tuck some evergreens in them. Well, next year!
I wish you and your sweet family a Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s perfect Anne! And love it in the trunk. Our family tree is in our kitchen and I use the colored lights on it. The colored lights just seem to fit the ornaments. It’s such a pretty glow in the kitchen at night. But this year I decided on simple too. May not even pull out any of the boxes. We’ll see…. Have a wonderful day tomorrow. xoxo

That looks absolutely lovely, Ann. What a great looking artificial tree too…wouldn’t have noticed it wasn’t if you hadn’t mentioned it. Love it sitting in the trunk. We do one artificial and one real. Every year, I say I’m going to buy two real trees but when I get to the tree farm, my thrifty side kicks in and I just can spend another $50-$75. 😉 I’m with you on simplicity for holiday decor and had planned to go with mostly fresh greens mixed with vintage pieces too. I’ve been inspired by Swedish Christmas decor lately. I’ll do the colorful & fun Christmas in our family room for the little ones though. Your home is so charming. Beautiful floors!

Your kitchen looks so festive and it’s simply beautiful! I always put an artificial tree, because I feel that it’s better that way. We gotta take care of our nature, too, right? :-)Anyway, everything looks great, and I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the idea of a tree growing out of a trunk (I’m going to have a closer look at that painted trunk, too!) and I entirely sympathise with the idea of ‘enough is enough’ with the decorations.
If you can get pine cones and fir branches, specially if it harvested off your own land, your house will look and smell wonderful, and you take it all out when Christmas is over. Remember to get it all out by January 6th, though, or the fairies will come and take you away! My Nanna told me that so it must be true!
Barbara Jean says
all amazingly sweet! Love it…the old door, the tree in box, the things hanging on it, the scale turned sideways.
