Guess what the new hot color is?
Pink!
I am very fond of this color.
But I only add it as accents in my home.
As I was painting things and getting ready for the Vintage Market I came across a trunk I had.
It was….okay but needed to be freshened up.
I have been wanting to try Annie Sloan Antoinette with a splash of gold as an accent for sometime now.
And when I saw this piece I knew it would be the perfect candidate!
This trunk was painted all over with Annie Sloan Antoinette and Old white.
I mixed the two colors until it was the pink I wanted.
I then painted the framed area old white and highlighted those appliques with gold wax.
Isn’t it pretty!
The top of this trunk is fabric and I painted that too.
Sealed it all up with wax.
The top is soft like leather.
After painting this I told my daughter that I hate to sell it.
She told me then keep it Mom…
Well I would LOVE to keep it but off it will go to the market.
This would be a wonderful blanket chest……or a bench in a laundry room.
It has great storage.
Would be wonderful in a bathroom too!
So now that you have seen the after would you like to see the before?
It was not awful but was in need of some fresh paint. It was a bit dirty.
And the fabric was dingy too!
The details on this piece are charming!

It looks wonderful Anne! A little shabby chic and a lot of elegance! The small gold touches look wonderful with the soft pink!

Oh, Anne, this is so charming. I am a pink fan anyway, but what intrigues me is the painting of the fabric. I can’t wait to try it on something.. I would be so torn to keep it too..Happy Sunday..Judy

I am new at this computer/blog/Pinterest/comment thing…..I’ve tried to find out how you painted the fabric on the French trunk. Do you have a tutorial? I SOOOOOO want to try this on a chair, but am lost as a goose. Love, love, love everything you do!
