I shared this post a year ago and wanted to share it with you today.
Memorial Day has special meaning to me my Grandfather fought in WWII.
He never talked about it most war veterans don’t .
What they saw and what they fought for is too painful to remember.
This will last them their whole life.
These Men were boys fighting for a war…fighting for our freedom.
Women too have made this same sacrifice.
I can’t imagine the fear, and pain that they endured.
Even after fighting and coming home.
I Salute them…each and everyone!
Thank you….
For our Freedom…..
For risking your life to save Ours…….
For enduring the pain so I don’t have to………
For keeping our Country Safe…………..
For keeping our Country Free……….

Such a beautiful post Anne. My father fought in WWII and like your grandfather, he never really talked about it. very much, except for the times I sat down with him and asked about it. I wish I had done that more because they were the most fascinating conversations.
Enjoy the day!

Anne, this is a beautiful tribute to those who have fought, some giving their lives, for our freedom. I could go on forever about those who so freely spew out insult and injury against those who protect us, but I will not. My husband’s father served in WWII, as well, and was awarded a Purple Heart. My husband spent the first year of our marriage in Vietnam, fighting from one operation right straight into the next the entire time. I write as the wife of someone who went off with still a bit of boyhood innocence and came back a man who had been through things that we can only imagine. I have a deep respect and appreciation for all those who have served and continue to do so. Thank you for your acknowledgement of them!

Thank you Anne for this beautiful post, reminding us all about the men in our lives who have fought in these ugly wars.
And I love you rustic styled Americana tribute to this very day.
Red, white, and blue to you too.
