Besides collecting white ironstone another one of my recent favorites has been collecting Milk Glass.
I find lots of milk glass while I am out thrift shopping but I only indulge on the special pieces that are unique to me .
And because of that my collection is quite small .
Love this set of milk glass nesting bowls.I use these all the time! For serving or just sitting out with fresh summer fruit.
A more recent find was this pretty scalloped bowl.
Isn’t it pretty!Love this pretty design. This will make a great salad or chip bowl! I bet it would be great as a punch bowl too!
See that lace dish next to this bowl.
A milk glass cake pedestal. This is so pretty displayed even when I am not using it .
I found these petite mugs years ago while on vacation. They look like they were once used in a diner.
I only found three of those handled bowls. But since there are only three of us in this house it is fine.
That marble slab was a recent find too.And yes I found all these pieces shopping at thrift shops most were under 1.00 some no more than 3.00.
It think they are just as pretty as white ironstone too!
Do you collect milk glass?

I need to go out thrift shopping. I never do, because I dont know where they are. I thought milk glass had a bumpy surface? Guess I dont know much about beautiful collectable things. Wish I did.

My daughter & I had such fun collecting all sorts and shapes of milk glass containers for her wedding reception tables 2 yrs ago! It started with a small collection inherited from my Mother and Mother-in-Law. Afterward, she kept her favorites, I kept mine, and we let other relatives choose a souvenir from the rest. It was a treasure hunt that we both enjoyed! I’m especially drawn to the hobnail pieces. Barbara

I also love collecting milk glass. I have a pretty big collection and just started to cut back on what I buy. I don’t have enough display space! Even so, I can’t pass up a milk glass pedestal cake stand. They are my favorite!

Love your pieces!! I just have a few but yours are lovely. Love that scalloped bowl the best.

I am drooling over the scalloped bowl. So pretty. I’ve been picking up pieces here and there for years now. Jadeite too. I go in streaks…whatever kind of catches my eye. And…what space I have left in my little kitchen!

Now I’ll have to be looking for milk glass items at our thrift stores. The beautiful pieces you have collected are very special, you must have some great thrift stores where you live. I won’t really be looking for milk glass as I don’t know where I’d put anything more. No place to put what I do have, too much of it is in big box out in our shed …somewhere. Think hubs hides boxes from me so I’ll forget what I have and he can secretly dispose of them. Our shed isn’t that big but it sure is stuffed with too much of my “stuff”. Really do need to get rid of things.
I’m more a jadeite collector but have bunches of that out in shed also.
Your scalloped bowl is very nice. Glad you can find pieces you love and use. That’s the key I guess is using the pretties you find. Happy summer

Hey Anne, I found the exact scalloped bowl in a thrift last year…but mine was filled with 12 punch cups! The handles are curved so they hang on the rim of the bowl. I love milk glass and willingly paid $30 for the set! My white chalk-painted hutch is filled with milk glass and white ironstone, all found at thrift stores too.

I don’t collect milk glass, but I do have one piece of it. I had a friend who found some at an estate sale once and came home and filled a kitchen cabinet with it! That was quite a find! The lamp in my kitchen has a base that looks just like milk glass although I’m sure it’s not real. You have some great pieces! It fits perfectly in your home too.

Sorry for getting back to you so late, Anne, but with the move, via my blog, things have been crazy. What a great collection. I love that bowl and it even has a lovey beaded bottom. The cake plate is another favorite with me. Your collection may be small but at least you are picking pieces you really want.

You’ve found some wonderful pieces for great prices, Anne! The cake plate is gorgeous. My daughter bought 2 milk glass lamps for our granddaughter’s room that are adorable.

Your milk glass pieces are very pretty and so nicely photographed. I have some stemmed pieces that I use for storing makeup brushes and such in my ensuite bath and also several bud vases. I must keep my eyes open for some of these more unique pieces.

I just started collecting milk glass. I am addicted. Since moving to Athens a couple if months ago, I’ve been to almost all the antique and thrift stores in the area. I love it. You have some very lovely pieces. I started a blog, allthingsmilkglass.com to chronicles finds. We move into our house in 2 weeks so I will finally have places to display all my pieces. I will be able to take better pictures too.

I have recently ‘re-started’ collecting white milk glass… I am rebuilding a collection that was broken during a move years ago and sort of re-fell in love with it when I saw a few pieces at estate sale. Like you, I am only looking for special pieces, like the lacy edge cake plate you found – what a beautiful piece!
Anne says
Thank you Dawn! Yes it is fun searching for new and unique pieces!
