This time of the year I really enjoy our herb garden.I don’t plant ours in the ground because we have ground squirrels. They are the small annoying creatures that make holes and tunnels in your yard.
I found a vintage wash tub months ago I bought it to sell in my space.
But I will be moving out of my space soon (more on that later)
So I thought this would make a perfect planter and it has a drain on each tub!
Our favorite is basil. We eat that just about every single night.
And I also planted Oregano,Rosemary, and yes some jalapeno peppers.
Yes I know peppers are not an herb but they should do fine in here too!
Did you see those garden markers?
These were so simple to make.
I found these vintage butter pats a while ago at a thrift store for .49 each. They are all crazed and not food safe anymore.
For a long time I just displayed them but I knew eventually I would have an idea of what to use these for.
This is what you need.
A sharpie or permanent marker
Craft sticks (they look like popsicle sticks)
e6000 glue or any really strong glue. This will be outside so it needs to be able to withstand the rain and heat.
And butter pats.
Simply add glue to the back and put the stick on the butter pat.
You may have to press and hold these down for a bit.
And please make sure to do this in a ventilated area if you use this glue.It is very toxic!
After they are dry use the sharpie to add your herb names on each.
And that’s it easy peasy right!
I love how they look like mini plates! These would be so cute in a fairy garden too!

Anne, such a great idea. I have passed up these little pats many time because I didn’t know what to do with them. Of course, now that I know, I probably won’t see them anymore..So cute and clever..Happy Thursday..Judy

Super cute idea! Why can’t I just let my butter pats do something useful besides sit in the china cupboard??? Confession: I have separation issues with my treasures, even when repurposing into something way more useful than their intended purpose! 🙂

So cute! I think I saw a glimpse of this on FB or something because I thought they WERE plates…it was the close up shot…and I thought Holy Cow…that’s a BIG plant marker!! LOL good idea! I have a bunch of these too….but, I think I might have difficulty gluing them to a stick like Rita said……the trauma!!!

Oh Anne i adore this idea. Better is the galvanized tubs for garden herb beds. Anything zinc in grey galvanize will charm any formal garden or otherwise do you not agree.
Thank you for this inspiring share, and thank you for lifting my creative spirits to making such beautiful noise to liking my zinc French address numbers.
They are so much more grand in person, heavy solid salvaged wood backs and I am getting ready to hang my own number 7 on the wall somewhere.
See you and all the creative beauty you inspire soon.

These are just darling! I love to grow my own herbs also, and your galvanized tubs make for a wonderful space to grow some. It’s a tie for me between basil and rosemary. Both are delightful all summer long.
