This Summer I thought it would be fun to teach my daughter how to cook. Our first recipe is a fruit parfait.I thought this would be a fun and easy one to do while teaching her how to slice the strawberries and how to easy assemble it too.
For this recipe we are using:
Graham crackers crushed. We simply placed 6 crackers in a plastic zip lock bag and smashed them with a mallet.
We also added 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to the crushed graham crackers.Sprinkle the cinnamon in the bag with the crushed graham crackers and shake the bag well to mix.
We are using fresh strawberries and blueberries and cool whip topping.
I know this is not really healthy with the cool whip. But you could substitute the cool whip for Greek yogurt.
First thing to do is slice the strawberries.
After we sliced the strawberries we added a 1 tablespoon of sugar just to sweeten it up a bit .You don’t have to add the sugar if you prefer not too.
Mix up the sugar (if added)
Next start to assemble the fruit parfait.
You can do this any way you would like. And if you are making these with your children and the parfaits are a little messy looking that’s okay.
The main thing is getting out in the kitchen together right!
If you are making these for adults you can spend a bit more time making these pretty.
We are using these mason jars which are perfect for this.Especially the jars with the handles.
This makes it so easy to hold as you are eating this.
When you are done assembling these they will look something like this depending on how you create yours.
We have a whole line of different foods we will be making this summer in the kitchen.
A few I will share will be granola and pizza Margherita!
And the best part about cooking in the kitchen is that you get to eat what you make too!
I think this will be her favorite part.
As we are doing this little bonding time I plan I making sweet memories of cooking together in the kitchen.

So cute, Anne. She certainly is growing into a pretty young lady. Such a good idea. I didn’t teach my daughter anything when she was young and although she turned out to be a wonderful wife, mother and home keeper, she doesn’t like to cook and rarely does. Thankful that her hubby is a good cook and likes to do it..Happy Wednesday..Judy
