I shared this post last year on our 23rd wedding anniversary.Sharing this again today on our 24th!
Today I wanted to share with you a special day.A day that changed my life forever.On this day twenty four years ago I married my high school sweetheart.We actually did not go to the same school.I was sixteen going on seventeen and he was eighteen.Kind of like that song from The sound of music.We dated for six years before we were married.Our Wedding day was a rainy day.But as our pastor said I pronounce you husband and wife the sun came out.They do say when it rains on your wedding day it brings good luck.I don’t know it that is true or not.But twenty four years later we are still together and still just as happy.Mr. Cottage is my best friend.He makes me laugh and I love him with all of my heart.I could not have asked for a better husband and father to our daughter.We have gone through some difficult times. Those difficult times have made us stronger.I know God has a hand in all of it too.
Our first song was Bob Seger “We’ve got tonight”. We really did not have any special song when we were dating.So when we had to pick a song to dance to at our wedding we picked this one.
I know for those of you who know us well may be very surprised that we did not pick a Bruce Springsteen song !

For those of you wondering what Mr.Cottage looks like now…well he is as handsome as ever to me!
But he is a bit camera shy.
And no that beard and mustache are long gone!

I have seen Springsteen 16 times, first time was Oct 1979 – been a big fan for a loooong time too.

Just found your blog 😉 Happy Anniversary to you! My hubby and I just celebrated our 36 anniversary on June 4th. His beard and mustache are long gone too …but then so is a lot of hair on the top of his head…hahaha! Somehow or other, I think it turned into extra pounds on me! 😉
We have been blessed in our marriage Itwo grown sons, two wonderful daughters in law, one granddaughter) and are always happy to see other couples who make it a long-term committment. Thank goodness not everyone does the “5-year trial marriage” ! Go’d’s pulled us through some very difficult trials, and yet, we love each other more today than the day we said “I do.” 🙂
