Pink Ice Cream Bucket

February 25, 2014

Today was another busy day of shipping orders,I am very thankful.

But I wanted to share something I have been working on.

I came across another vintage ice cream bucket that needed a little lift.

It was just stained no paint,so I added a coat mixing  Miss Mustard seeds milk pain in Tricycle and Linen.

Then I added a coat of Anne Sloan Old Orchre on top.

I never know what I am going to do when I start painting something.

It is the artist in me,I love experimenting with colors, textures and mediums.

I really was not sure which to try first so I started with milk paint knowing it would chip.

After the first coat it did,but I was not happy with the way it looked with just one color,so I added chalk paint on top.

Distressed it a bit and added wax.

I love the results.

On this bucket I decided to leave the label showing through,I just sanded it to give it a worn look.

This will be going in the shop tomorrow.

Something else I experimented with was this old frame.

Again I used the same mix of Miss Mustard Seeds Tricycle and Linen paint.

This has lots of chips in it which I love!

I sanded it to get the really loose pieces of paint off then added a coat of Miss Mustard Seed hemp oil.

I painted this to sell, but I am having second thoughts.

This may or may not go into the shop I have not decided yet.

I did add a few items today.

This gorgeous pink lamp, and let me tell you this is hard for me to let go.

Well actually most of what I sell is hard to let go,because I only buy what I really love myself and only pieces I would put in my own home.

I am in love with this beautiful pink color, and sweet flowers.

And I added this sweet platter,I love the crazing and patina.

I was painting an ice cream bucket yesterday. I love them. The pink lamp is so cute! I can see why it would be hard to let it go. Darling stuff, Anne

I haven’t used the MMS paint yet but you are sure giving me a reason to try it. I love how everything turned out but what has me curious is that glorious pink surface in the last picture. Did you do that or did you just so very lucky in a find? It’s fabulous!

If you meant that cold frame,it was painted with Miss Mustard Seeds paint.Sometimes it does not adhere well and gives pieces an authentic chippy look.

LOVE the frame! I will look forward to seeing it in your shop. Again, lots of praise for the speed with which you shipped my order. It’s difficult for me to order online, because I like instant gratification, but ordering from you is the next best thing to it.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
