I have been playing around with milk paint the past couple of days.
It is interesting how a color ,the same color can look so different when painted on a different surface.
For instance yesterday I shared this tote with you.
You can view it HERE.
I painted this tote using Miss Mustard Seeds Tricycle and Linen.
This color came out a soft coral pink.
Under the coat of milk paint is a white coat of paint.
Using the same batch of paint I decided to experiment and paint this plastic frame.
Yes this frame is plastic,it was part of a vintage medicine cabinet I found.
After getting it home I realized it was not going to work it was too big.
So I took the mirror and frame off.
I used the same mixture as it was the same batch of paint tricycle and linen and this was the result on this dark piece.
I love the color it actually looks more like Anne Sloan Antoinette.
I did not want to use the bonding agent from Miss Mustard Seeds line because I really wanted it to be chippy.
And boy is it ever!
I think on a surface like this I may have to use a spray varnish to keep it from chipping all the way off.
But I love how this turned out.
Not sure if I am going to keep this here ,but I absolutely love this look and this paint.
A closer look and you can tell it is a plastic frame.
Love the texture!
From a distance you can’t tell that this is a plastic frame.
I think it sort of looks cool layered on top of my vintage chippy garden gate.
I have had several people ask me how I like using Miss Mustard Seeds paint.
Well I will give you my honest opinion and this is not a sponsored post.
I love how easy it is to use,I love the color selection.
It mixes well, but I would use her mixer that you can buy or a hand held food puree.
It really needs to get mixed well.
I also love how you can mix different colors together to get a totally different look.
I really don’t notice much of a smell with her paint which I love!
I have used her wax and hemp oil and they are both very easy to use and give the paint a beautiful rich color.
I still love using chalk paint and will continue to use it.
But it’s great to have an alternative.
If you have not tried using milk paint give it a try.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

That is a pretty color you created! You could give it your own name now. LOL! That is definitely a vintage looking pink. I haven’t tried milk paint yet.
Thank you Kelly!
That’s so pretty. I can’t wait to try some in the future. I think I would love to have a pink desk or dining table.
Both pieces are so beautiful ~ I love the pink – I am going to paint over my tricycle red coffee table with white then mix linen and tricycle to try to achieve this.
Totally wonderful! The pink is different and perfect for a change of pace as tool caddies go!
Thank you Lynn!

Gorgeous pieces Anne and I love the color. When we are in the new house I have to get the nerve up to try the Milk Paint. For some reason I am very intimidated.
Cynthia
Don’t be intimidated. My advice is to make sure you mix it well.It really is a great paint to use.Remember you can always play around on a scrap piece of wood or a cheap piece of furniture.
Oh wow — I love the chippy look too! Those colors created such a pretty pink! I’ve got a batch to try out on a little wooden table I have. I’m not using the bonding agent and am so excited to see how it turns out! xoxo
Yes I too love this color Clydia!
Love what you’ve done. I may have to give this paint a try. I like the results you got.
Cindy
