One question I get often is how do I dry my roses.
I am going to share how to dry roses.
I don’t know if there is a right way or a wrong way just sharing how I dry my roses.
I guess it’s no secret that my favorite flowers are roses, although there are many other flowers I enjoy.
But this time of the year I rarely see any flowers at are market that are prettier than the roses.
I enjoy my flowers until they are wilted over.
Yes I still see beauty in my flowers even when they look like this.
But once they reach this point, before the petals start to fall I take them out of the water and wrap the stems in a paper towel.
Then I take a rubber band or some twine and wrap that around the paper towel.
Then I simply hang them upside down.
I try to fluff them a bit before I hang them upside down.
But honestly I don’t mind it they are a little wonky looking.
I never look for perfection even when drying my roses.
The colors may change a bit and they won’t be perfectly shaped but that’s okay.
They usually end up on this piece I found at a garage sale a few years ago.
Simply hung upside down on this wire.
When they are finished drying I will leave them up unless I run out of room.
I will clip off some of the buds for future projects.
But they look pretty in a bowl too.
Here is a recent project I made using my dried roses.
You can read about it HERE.

Oh thank you! I saw your lovely wreath post a few days ago and immediately wondered where I would find dried roses. I’m kind of awful at crafts but I love to keep trying so that I can surround myself with beautiful things! xo Jonni xo

Anne, I have enjoyed each and every one of your posts. The lovely chippy paint, the pink roses and everything you show us touches me. My love for gently used and re-purposed items from the past drives me; and I find great inspiration in your artistic creations.
I especially appreciate your sharing how you dry your roses. I will be doing the same from now on. Thanks so much!

Anne, thanks for sharing your “secret” method for drying flowers! I have used this technique for drying herbs from my garden, but never thought about doing it for flowers.
