I learned my lesson many years ago never be afraid to ask.
I was out shopping with a friend at a flea market we both spotted something interesting.
When I saw it I assumed that it was going to be out of my price range, but my friend walked over to it, and it was the deal of the day.
That day changed my life, from that day on if I see something for sale I always inquire.
And even if it is not for sale,I inquire.
About a year ago while shopping at one of my favorite thrift shops I spotted a vintage dress form.
I asked how much it was and they said it was not for sale.
Every time I shopped I was hoping to see it for sale but no luck.
I was standing in line the other day looking at this dress form and thought I will ask yet again.
“Excuse me but I was wondering if that dress form is for sale.”.
” No honey replied the sales clerk, we would not have anything to display our clothes on”.
Then it hit me,a light bulb moment.
What if I donated my dress form and offered to pay for that cool vintage one I had been drooling over for a year?
I bought a dress form a year ago ,it was nice but I really wanted a vintage one.
So I asked to see a manager, only the supervisor was in that day.
She told me to come back and see the assistant manager.
I came to see the assistant manager,he told me to come back to talk to the store manager.
Okay this is not looking good, but I have come this far and I am not giving up.
So……. I went in the following day with my dress form in hand.
I asked to see the store manager, and he smiled and said yes that would be fine.
Are you sitting or standing because this may knock you off of your feet.
He said how about $20.00 for the dress form?
Um…..yes that’s great 🙂
As I was paying he gave me $3.00 off because it was a donation,I kid you not!
I am still pinching myself.
The moral of this story always ask.
The worse that can happen is that they tell you no!
I love how old, discolored and tattered this one is!
Next time you are out shopping and you see something give it a try,you never know what could happen.
Just listed new items in the shop!

You are the smart one by not giving up. A month ago I passed a dress form up . It was decorated with paper advertising. So I passed knowing I already have several projects waiting my attention. But driving away all these ideas kept popping in my head. To this day I still go by hoping it will appear again. Maybe you’ll bring me good luck..

I passed on a vintage trophy cup once, why I don’t know.Still kicking myself for that one!Don’t give up you will find one 🙂

The reasons you love it are probably the very reasons they were willing to trade it for your new one! Win/win. Love that!
