A few weeks ago I was out treasure hunting and I came across a vintage area rug.
When I first saw the rug it was all roll up tightly so I could only see the colors from underneath.
I stood there in the store looking at the vintage area rug , thinking should I get it,the price was right.
But after looking at it and thinking about it I walked away without buying it.
That following week I went to the same store and that rug was still there, bound together so I could only see the underneath color.
Again I walked away.
Then yesterday I went back to that same shop and it was still there, but this time I asked the lady at the shop to help me open it up to take a closer look.
As soon as she opened it up I said…..Sold!
I bet you are a bit surprised at the color, yes it has a bit of pink but it has lots of blue.
I seem to have a thing for blue lately and it’s all because of this blue table I just painted.
If you remember in the post I shared HERE I said that this was not staying but going off to be sold.
Well that did not last long, after I took this photo I decided to see what this would look like in my family room, big mistake!
Yep that’s when I decided that this table needs to stay here.
If you look closely you can see the table off in the corner, yes I made a few changes to our family room.
I already had a little blue in this room,on my pillows and that little box on my table that holds my lavender pillows and a few bunches of dried hydrangeas has a bluish green color.
I like that added height that this table gives to the corner of my family room.
This corner needed a little sparkle so I hung my chandelier here.
It was previously on the other side of the room hanging from my vintage birdcage holder.
It’s funny I have had two reactions to my new rug from my cat and my husband.
After I rolled up the rug I had here, our cat walked on over and sat on top of it as in protest.
She had the saddest look on her face and a little disgust.
But she seems to be fine now.
After I shot photos for this post my husband said “Is this rug staying here or is this just for photos”.
Not sure if he likes the rug yet either.
I am sure they will both get used to it 🙂
I still love my pinks and whites, but I am really loving a bit of blue now too.
That’s why I love my white walls and my mostly white decor.
It’s very easy to add just about any color to a room.
And just a little different color can really change the look and feel of a room.
It flows great with the kitchen too,and my brown chairs.
Oh those brown chairs…..sometimes you have to work with what you have.
I’m not sure how old this rug is,it’s in amazing condition but does have some of the fringe edges missing which makes me love this rug even more.
I would love to know more about this rug,do you know anything about rugs and how to tell the age?
If you do I would love to know more.

Your rug is beautiful, and I’m guessing it’s not really old…but who cares when you find one in such great condition for a good price! Blue has always been my favorite color because everything looks great with it so it almost becomes a neutral. Your rug looks great in your room!

I don’t know about the rug’s age, probably not too old. But what I want to know is: How do you decide on “treasure hunting” time. Do you set aside one day a week, or what. And, since you do so much, do you have a strict household schedule that you follow. I am a big admirer. I see that you get something that needs working over, and you seem to rush right home and do that. How do you fit in all that you do? I really do want to know this, so that I can attempt to copy your routine (minus the blog….I’d never fit that in).

Cheryl since this is my job I am always out treasure hunting.Usually during the day when my daughter is in school.During summer break she will go with me ,I am lucky that she enjoys it too.I schedule my cleaning days for Thursdays and Fridays.Food shopping I do several times a week because we eat lots of fruits and veggies in our house things go fast! When I am working on a project things can get a little crazy,so I make sure to allow myself time to do things. But believe me my home is not perfect all the time. That would be impossible. But I don’t think you all want to see my crazy messy house. And no not everything is done every week.Yes laundry and bathrooms but sometimes the floors get skipped a week or two from being washed. But always swept and vacuumed.

Thanks. I think it is the energy that I am lacking, not the desire.
Anne says
LOL Cheryl I really don’t know where I get the energy.I guess it’s because I love what I do.Especially treasure hunting.I give myself time to play, time to work and time to do household things like shopping, cleaning. And my family helps me allot with all of that too 🙂

I love the rug (and the table). I found a few gorgeous persian rugs in an antique store in town last year but the prices weren’t ‘right’… still, they were beautiful rugs, lovely soft colours and really good quality. I’m thinking that when I finally do the living room I’ll get one or two… 🙂 I have to wait a while. My partner needs to recover from the kitchen makeover first!
Anne says
Thank you Zefi! Keep looking you will find just what you are looking for.Yes a kitchen makeover can be a huge project. But I bet it looks amazing!

Love your blue table and your rug. I am curios about the chairs in the picture of your room you shared. They appear to be recliners? They are just what I am looking for , something that looks more like a club chair, but is a recliner. Can you tell me more about them and if they are in fact recliners, what brand, etc.
Anne says
Yes Katherine they are recliner chairs we bought 8 years ago from JcPenny. The designer of the chairs and sofa is Chris Madden.
