Today is the last day of my Vintage sale, and as I was setting up and changing things around I started thinking about my hopes and dreams.
I have always been a creative person,I love decorating and styling.
Even as a child I always enjoyed re-decorating my room, which really meant moving my bed from one side to another,or sometimes on an angle.
Let’s see…. if someone asked me what would I would like to do …. if I could what would it be?
I would love to work as a stylist,or with a designer staging rooms or homes.
And if that would involve shopping that would be a huge plus!
I have to tell you I am getting giddy with excitement because after the sale I have a few projects up my sleeve, and I will be changing a few things around and tweaking.
Because you never know who is reading your blog wink…. wink….. just thought I would just put it out there and share my little dream.
Maybe you all can give me a little advice of how I can make this happen.
Besides meeting other creative souls who enjoy decorating and vintage treasures as much as I do,I really enjoy setting up shop.
That is my favorite part of what I do,and I have a stage…..my home.
I can empty a room and start all over again!
And in doing so I usually just shop my own home.
Now I just need to figure out how to take it to the next level.

Excited to share how this sale went….a hint much better than the first one.
I will share more on that soon!

I’m so glad to hear your sale this time is going better, practice for next time. Happy for you to do better, don’t give up.
What a wonderful dream to make reality Anne. Good for you. Do you have any ideas how to accomplish your dream?
You could call friends, ask them if you can style their homes/rooms for them, take lots of before/after photos. Volunteer at Parade of Homes events helping the decorators style the homes, get letters of reference from decorators. Then send those photos to decorators, home builders. This will certainly show them you have the talents to style homes. Advertise yourself for people selling their homes now, charge a nominal fee to get experience and references from them. It would be a start anyway.
I’d love to do that also so do know how you feel. So many people don’t have time or inclination and it could help them sell their homes much quicker.
I’ve always done things as you described in your childhood. Drove my parents crazy in our little 2 bedroom house in Tucson. I’d change things all the time, rearrange living room and bedroom, loved it. At a certain age took over all holidays decorating, sewed from a young age.
I grew up in 50’s era of the big petticoats and skirts so I made my own skirts and slips. My Mother worked 6 long days a week since my Dad was sick/unable to work almost whole time I was in high school so money was short and her energies/time limited. She told me if I wanted my skirts and petticoats clean all the time I’d have to do them myself, in a wringer washer, then hang on line. There weren’t any dryers in those days. I made pretty much all my own clothes and washed them after that so she had less to do. I did all the cleaning of the house. Good preparation for being married believe me. And I had to maintain a high grade average. I graduated top 1/8th of class in 1958.
My oldest daughter resents that she had to “help” with younger kids, help with dishes things like that. All my kids had to help as I felt that’s what families do. I had 3 kids by time I was 24. I would have never thought to complain let alone say it in nasty way to my Mother. I felt that whatever I learned to do was preparation for being an adult.
OH fiddle, darn clouds are moving in and I still have laundry to hang out, guess towels will have to wait til tomorrow. Happy weekend Have you sold alot already, looking forward to hearing about your sale.
Anne says
Thanks so much JaneEllen that is great advice! We really have it easy don’t we! Sometimes ! I complain about doing that laundry but really…what’s involved.Sticking it in a machine to wash it and then a dryer!I remember hanging our clothes out on a line when I was a child! The sheets always felt softer after doing that!Have a great weekend!
