I have been searching and searching for a vintage pink tree for a year.
You know what I am talking about, the vintage ceramic tree’s that light up.
Last year I looked and looked and could never find one in my price range.
And I was never lucky enough to come across one while treasure hunting.
This year I started early looking for a tree, and I came across this one.
Okay I know it’s not a pink tree.
That’s exactly what I thought when I saw this too.
This was also covered with multicolored light inserts but I took them off.
After spotting this the first time I walked away, because it was blue.
What was I thinking?!
So I went back to where I found it and looked to see if this was still there, and yes it was.
Why…because a little paint would do the trick!
Never underestimate the power of paint!
The first thing I did was take all of the light inserts out.
Most were pretty easy to take out a few were a little stubborn.
Then I took out my chalk paint.
I used a mixture of three paints to get the color I wanted.
I can’t share how much I mixed because I just mixed until I liked the color I saw.
But these are the colors I used.
They are all from Vintage Market and Design furniture paint.
Dove,Porcelain,and Sweet pea.
This particular tree was not glazed,I am not sure that the chalk paint would adhere to that, but you never know.
This was painted using three coats.
After I painted this I used a water based clear varnish that I already had.
Because I took all to those lights off and I did not want multicolored lights on my pink tree I looked on ebay and found clear light inserts.
I can’t add a star to the top because the original broke off and it is stuck inside.
I tried getting that out and almost broke the tip so I am leaving it as is.
This is not where I am going to put my shabby pink tree,I have a better spot.
But this is a great spot to taking photos.
It’s in the corner of my dining room and has great light.
It’s where I shoot all the photos for my shop.
Aren’t those rose’s gorgeous, and they smell amazing too!
Okay, what’s the lesson you learned from me today?
Don’t pass something up because of the color!
Think about painting it.
Whether it is a piece of furniture of a ceramic tree you can transform allot with just a little paint!
Again I am not sure if a glazed tree would work, but if it’s cheap enough it’s worth a try!

I’ve seen a lot of great Christmas ideas, but this one is my favorite. My parents were trying to get rid of theirs and I didn’t take it, but you can probably guess I want it now. Although the blue is nice, the pink is fabulous – I love how it almost looks like pink whip cream:)

Thanks so much Loxie! Yes I love the color too….a soft dreamy pink <3

This is adorable! My daughter wants a pink tree for her room, and after seeing yours, I’ll have to check out some thrift stores. 🙂
Anne says
Thank you Dee! Yes now is the time keep checking. You can purchase a new ceramic tree that is unpainted. But it costs a bit more than what I paid.Just search the internet you will find them :-).I think they are around 28.00 or so without shipping. Not sure how big they are.

My sweet grandmother made me one when I was a child. It was white with pink lights. I was so sad when it was broken during a move. I later found one just like it at a tag sale. Even though my Mimmie did not make it, it makes me think of her.
Anne says
Oh a white one with pink lights sounds so pretty Kim! So glad you found one similar.Too bad the original one broke.

Your pink tree is perfectly pretty and precious!! You know Anne, I have a ceramic tree just like that one that my sister-in-law gave me 20 years ago. It’s been stashed away in a box because it is bright green and has the multi-colored lights…a bit gaudy. I’m going to dig that out and make a pink tree, I’ve wanted one forever. I also thought I’d never be able to find clear light inserts to replace the multi-color, but I guess that problem is solved too! Yippee! Thank you!
