I bet you noticed that my photos are not showing up as a featured image.
Oh the life of a blogger.
Honestly sometimes I feel like I spend more time researching how to fix things rather than spending time creating.
****Update, since writing this post, it’s now fixed 🙂 ****
I don’t have the patience or ability to sit in front of my computer trying to figure out why something is not working.
But I am glad that there are people that like to do that.
I would much rather be creating, something…….
Okay, I can’t sit here and tell you that I am a big crafty person, because I’m not.
I like doing crafts, but only when the moment inspires me.
That’s how I roll.
And when the moment strikes, I go into my studio and look around for inspiration.
I have lots of inspiration in my studio 😉
Lace, trim, glitter, fabric scraps, well you get the idea.
And I don’t know about you but, if I am going to do a craft it has to be one that’s easy.
I like instant gratification.
I guess that’s why I love chalk paint.
You can start a project and finish it all in one day!
And it practically sticks to anything.
At least that’s how it’s been for me.
And I also love my glue gun.
We have been best friends for many years!
Yes I have been burned a few times, but just like any friendship things always work out in the end.
And my projects are always finished quicker when I use my glue gun.
Seriously, I have had my glue gun for twenty years, yes the same one!
Oh and I never have a plan for a project.
Do you?
As I said I go in my studio, and look for something to create, gather my pieces, then start.
Not every piece works out exactly as I would like it too.
But most of the time I am pretty happy with the results.
This was a very simple project.
I found a paper mache heart at a craft store.
I painted it using chalk paint.
The color I chose is Blushing by Heirloom Traditions paint.
I think that color is fitting since this is a Valentine heart.
After I painted two coats on both sides, I added a transfer.
I found this transfer from The Graphics Fairy.
Since I didn’t need the whole image that I printed, I cut out just what I needed, the word Paris.
Paris says romance to me.
Although I have never been to Paris, someday I hope to visit.
Make sure your image has been printed on a laser printer.
I don’t have a laser printer, so IÂ printed the graphic that I wanted to use on my computer.
Then I took it to our local UPS store, they have a laser printer.
Next, I took my finger dipped it in water to wet down the paint on the the heart, just a bit.
Then I applied my graphic on top of the heart.
Using the back of a spoon, I transferred the graphic onto the heart.
Okay this is a funny photo, I don’t have three hands.
But, I was in the middle of doing this project and I did not want to run downstairs to get my tripod.
As you can see it’s a bit faded, and that’s perfect!
That’s the look you will get using this technique.
Sort of old and shabby.
Then I cut that gold cord off and added some shredded shabby fabric I had.
I attached it using a long pearl pin.
You know I love my bling, so IÂ applied Miss Mustard Seed’s German glass glitter around the graphic.
First applying Tacky glue, yeah that’s what it’s called.
It’s not tacky glue, it’s Tacky glue.
It still needed something so I looked through my piles of lace trim and found this pretty pink piece.
I just hot glued this around the heart and that’s it!
Pretty simple huh?
I think this little project took me 20 minutes, including paint drying time.
Here is a little tip for you.
I know IÂ have mentioned this before, but I want to share it again.
Make sure to check those craft sections at the thrift shop.
You will be surprised at all the cool creative things you will find, for pennies!
Trims, paints, glitter, just take a peek next time.
Even if you are not looking for it now.
Down the road you may be looking for that special piece of trim, or lace, for your project.
