Great Patina And Exciting News!

March 5, 2015

Sometimes I find pieces that have pretty details, but the color is all wrong.

If it has great patina I usually pick it up and take it home.

Like this pair of candlesticks.

The design and patina is perfect, but not the color.

I decided to paint these using Buff Rose by Heirloom Traditions.

Since this already had great patina all that was needed is a fresh coat of paint, and a little dark wax.

After I applied one coat of paint, and it was fully dried I applied Muddy Pond soft wax from Heirloom Traditions.

Muddy Pond really highlighted those imperfections.

To apply my wax I used an old t-shirt rag, and applied a small amount by rubbing it onto my candlesticks.

And here is what they look like now.

See all of that crusty chippy patina.

These look so much prettier painted with just a coat of paint and a little wax.

This lovely pair was available in my shop, but they are now sold,  and off to a new home.

Don’t pass up pieces that have amazing patina, with a little paint and dark wax you can bring out the beauty again.

I shared something similar recently.

Below is what it looked like after I painted it.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
