One of my new paint colors is Chippy Blue.
I thought you would like to see this beautiful color on a piece of furniture.
Many years ago I bought this clock from Country Sampler magazine.
I am not sure if that magazine is still around, but many years ago I found this in there retailer section.
I remember when I first bought this clock.
It drove my husband nuts, because it goes off at the top of every hour.
But over the years we don’t even notice it chiming, even though it still does.
I guess we have grown used to the sound.
This clock is pine wood that has a honey stain underneath all the coats of paint that I have applied over the years.
Let’s see, it’s has black paint, white paint, more white paint and stain.
I thought my chippy blue would look perfect on this old clock.
I sort of feel bad.
This was one of those projects that I started and never finished.
I painted it white, but you can sort of see the black peeking through the white paint.
Well, it was about time this clock got a new coat of paint.
So before I share the after photo of this clock let me explain why I wanted to paint this clock.
Yes it needed a fresh coat of paint, but secretly I have been longing for a Moira clock.
If you are not familiar with Moira clocks, the are Swedish clocks that have a unique curvy shape.
The real Moira clocks cost thousands of dollars.
But you can find a reproduction for half the cost.
I am planning on selling this clock at my sale, and hoping to splurge on a Moira clock.
I wish I could share a photo of a Moira clock, but I can’t share another photographers photos on my site without permission.
Even if they are from pinterest.
So here it is….my Chippy Blue clock!
I applied two coats of Chippy Blue on this clock.
After the first coat dried, I added paint and a little water in a container.
I mixed it up and applied it to my clock.
I distressed it using my vinegar and water technique.
But I only distressed it a little.
As far as distressing, well it depends on the piece.
Some pieces of furniture I distress more than others.
This piece doesn’t have a lot of details so I decided to go easy on distressing it.
What do you think about the color?
Isn’t it pretty!
Chippy blue is such a soft color.
I think it works perfectly with green or yellow too!
You can see my chippy old door in the background that is yellow in color.
I applied a coat of Lime White wax on top of this clock.
I must admit that white lime and muddy pond are my two favorite waxes from Heirloom Traditions.
They are creamy in consistency, and there is only a very slight odor.
I will be adding these waxes to the shop tomorrow!
It looks like we fixed the shipping situation, so vintage items are free, and the paint does have added shipping.
Thanks again for being patient!
I am having so much fun playing with these new colors….can’t wait to share more!

I have an oak colored bedroom suite that I want to distress.
My question is if I want it dark underneath and lighter in the top , how do I achieve that if it starts out as oak ?
This is the look I’m going for . I don’t know if you can see it or not ?
Thxs Kathy

Hi Kathy, no I can’t see the photo. Are you using one or two colors? If you use one color, as you distress you will see your paint color and the oak.If you use two colors, you will see the top color, some of the second color and some of the oak color. Either way it will look fab!
