Today I am sharing Ruffled Lilac and a vacation.
First let’s talk about Ruffled Lilac.
As you know recently two new colors were added to my signature color line.
Today I am going to share one…..
Ruffled Lilac.
I can’t wait to paint a beautiful French Provincial piece with Ruffled Lilac, but I have had no luck at all finding pieces.
Maybe I am getting too picky.
Anyway, I wanted to show you a piece painted with it, so I pulled out this black mirror that I had.
Nothing special, but I do love the patina in the glass.
I painted the frame with Ruffled Lilac, then added White Lace to the decorative trim on the corners.
Once it was dry I decided to add a little Muddy Pond to the frame.
I needed to dirty the frame up just a bit to give it a vintage look that matched the mirror.
As I applied the Muddy Pond I wipe it off, rubbing it in well.
I didn’t want to change the color too much.
And here is my finished mirror.
I love using mirrors on tables, they make beautiful trays.
Perfect for a centerpiece, don’t you think?
One of my favorite Rachel Ashwell candles, fig.
Love the packaging on her candles, along with the amazing smell.
Isn’t the reflection of the candle and roses pretty?
You can now order Ruffled Lilac in the shop.
******************************
Changing the subject just a tad.
This year we are not going on vacation, not even a road trip.
But I still need a little time away from the computer.
I have been slowly downsizing and purging things in my home.
I cannot tell you how much I love having less!
Anyway, as I am purging, selling and donating, I am cleaning too.
I would like to finally get into my studio that right now looks like a tornado ran through it.
Seriously, not even kidding!
My studio needs to be cleaned and organized.
I would also like to work on my book.
So next week I may be sharing a few new posts, adding some pieces to the shop.
But I have things scheduled so I can be away from my computer.
Let’s see if that works out for me.
I am a bit of a workaholic.
I will still be checking my emails, so if you have a question I will get back to you.
When I come back I have lots to share, including some exciting news!!
Have a great week everyone!

Enjoy your break from the computer. We all need that once in awhile. Love the new color and what is this about you writing a book. Did I miss something? Congrats on that. Can’t wait to see what your exciting news will be.

Glad you are taking some time to rest. Your posts about downsizing and purging have inspired me. I am trying to do the same thing and sometimes it seems a bit overwhelming. I have found that sometimes I have to go back and go through several times before, I get things sorted out enough. Please continue to show pictures as you organize and change.
Thanks,
Shirley

I will Shirley. Just remember, take it one step at a time. Don’t try to do too much. I have been purging a lot since we plan on moving in the next three years. It may seem like I am over doing it starting so early. But we have been here for nine years. And have accumulated tons in that time. We are going to be moving to a home that has at least 1,000 less sq ft, and no basement. That’s a lot of lost space we will no longer have. So I really need to purge as much as possible. I plan on doing this at least two more times before we list our home. I really want to only move with what we really need.

Hello! I love this piece!!! Awesome job! – Question if I may?, im doing a dresser in this same color But with Behr All In One Matte paint, the top and details are in Black chalk paint with a Mettalic Silver chalk over the Black- Now Do I just continue to the Distressing with Dark Wax Over that Behr paint?, Or do I need to add something over it prior to the last steps?. Thanks alot! Ive been trying to figure this all out for months now..
Anne says
Hi Kris, thanks so much. For your question, I’m not sure what you’re asking. Are you asking how to distress, or if you should use the dark wax?
