Easy Deer Silhouette Art

As I was browsing through the craft store to gather supplies for upcoming fall projects I stumbled upon this cool burlap canvas.

I’m not really into burlap as I once was, but this canvas fascinated me.

I added it to my cart and kept on shopping for my supplies.

I had no idea what I was going to do with this, but I knew that I could think of something.

As I worked my way around the store, I walked past all the fall supplies then I walked into the scrapbook isle.

Okay, I’ve never been into scrapbooking, but I do love the paper used for scrapbooking.

I think it’s a wonderful art, but I have no time for that.

Printing out the pictures and then mastering the creativity for a scrapbook.

Ain’t no body got time for that.

Well, I don’t that’s for sure.

But….. look at the papers I found.

Sigh…… aren’t these so pretty and Shabby Chic too.

I added these to my cart and kept on shopping, then as I passed the Christmas isle, yeah that’s been out since June I think.

Why does it seem like every year they put that stuff out earlier and earlier?!

Anyway…as I was walking a deer jumped out right in front of me!

Well, not a real deer, but a holiday deer.

Ah….ha….. then it hit me like a ton of bricks!

I knew exactly what I was going to create.

A Shabby Chic deer silhouette.

This is a super easy project.

Supplies –

Burlap Canvas

Scrap Paper

Transfer Medium Decoupage Gel

Jute

Glue Gun

This is a super easy project.

And if your not into deer art, then what about doing this same art for a silhouette of a cow, or a horse, or cowgirl boots, or pumpkins.

Okay, I think you get the idea.

I’m hoping that this will inspire you, so take this idea and use it for your own idea 😉

I decided to draw my own deer on my canvas, using a pencil.

If you’re not comfortable doing that, you can find a deer photo and trace it on to your canvas.

It’s not very hard to draw a deer silhouette, the shape is really easy to draw free style.

Once your deer is drawn or traced on your canvas, take your paper, and start ripping out pieces to fill in the shape of your deer.

 It was a hard decision trying to decide which paper to choose, but in the end I chose the paper to the left.

I started on the antlers, and worked my way around the whole silhouette of my deer.

Apply the glue to your canvas, then add your pieces of paper on top as you are working on each strip.

Add more glue on top after you apply your piece to the canvas.

When you are finished it will look like this.

I could have stopped here, but I decided to add more dimension and texture with jute.

I pulled out my hot glue gun and started applying my jute around my deer.

And here’s my finished piece.

Isn’t this sweet.

I love this paper so much, I will be heading back to the store to pick up more of it tomorrow!

And I think I will be making a few more of these canvases.

So now that we are approaching September, I’ll be starting to think about fall decor.

Although I will be keeping it simple as always.
