My Book A Pleather Bench And A Sale

August 27, 2015

Several months ago I mentioned that I was writing a book.

And I am finally getting a chance to work on it.

I never realized how hard writing a book would be.

I write articles for my site all of the time, so I thought it would be easy.

But, it’s not……….

I have so much information that I want to share with all of you, in the book, but I need to stay on track and share one chapter at a time.

I start writing and I am all over the place!

Here’s a little peek at what my book is going to share.

Vintage Style decorating tips, shopping tips where to find cool treasures, painting tips and more!

I am hoping to have it finished by the end of October.

Launch day will be around the first week of December.

Thanks for waiting so patiently!

Now let’s get back to the pleather bench I shared a few days ago.

DIY tissue paper decopauge fabric bench (9 of 19)

This little bench was a total experiment, I had no idea what to expect.

Let me refresh you on what I did.

I applied tissue paper, the kind you use for wrapping gifts to this bench.

Along with Heirloom Traditions Transfer and Decoupage Gel.

Using my brush, I brushed on the gel to my piece applied tissue paper, then brushed on more get.

And so on….

I made a few changes with the color and wax before it was completed.

You can read the full tutorial HERE.

When I shared it, I only added the wax.

I still needed to add a few coats of Aqua Clear from Heirloom Traditions paint on top of the bench.

You don’t need to use Aqua Clear on top of the wax.

But I wanted this piece to be a sturdy as possible, since it will be sat on.

The wax needed to fully cured before adding Aqua Clear.

Here is a close up shot of the bench after it was coated with Aqua clear.

Can you tell that I used tissue paper on this?

And can you believe this is tissue paper?

My experiment worked!!

This does not look or feel as though it has tissue paper on it.

It looks and feels just like pleather!

This is not stiff, but has movement.

This is what happens if you put pressure on it.

It’s the same with my pleather chair that I have in this same room.

I am really surprised at how well this turned out.

It has a very soft feel too it, even though you can see it has lots of texture.

This bench works great in this space as far as the size and style.

It’s perfect in this room, for a little extra seating.

Not bad for a $6.99  bench from the thrift shop!

As you can see this is a small room, for photo purposes I am showing the bench in front of the desk.

But I have room for this next to the window.

I will be adding some new pieces to the shop soon.

So, I am hosting a **SALE** to make room for new treasures.

It’s a rare thing for me to host a sale.

If there’s something you have had your eye on in the shop.

Now is the time to jump on it before it disappears.

You can shop HERE.

All prices include shipping!

Happy shopping 🙂

What great idea to upholster your little bench, smart gal, and something different. Your hubs ought to be happy with you fixing up his office for him so wonderfully. Love look of texture on both bench and chair. Looks like you did good job on both.
Wish my office/craft room could look that way. I go in it and right back out again due to mess to tackle. eeeekkkkk. The only way I could deal with cleaning it is to take everything out of it to back deck., clean all needed then piece by piece put back in after being gone thru, what a job. Not for summer, way too hot out on our deck (uncovered) to tackle all that but fall temps are coming and hopefully no rain so will do it then. Same goes for sewing room.
Hubs is putting new curtain rods up in our room then I’ll hang curtains from living room for now until room gets painted one of these years. Just too darned hot in our room during day to paint in there, we have ceiling fan but still too hot. I don’t do well in high heat.
Have great weekend, enjoy your new office.

JaneEllen, Yeah…my studio upstairs is a disaster! So don’t feel bad. It’s not practical to keep a working craft room or studio clean.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Hi I'm Anne.
I started this blog many years ago to share my passion for home decor. My tastes have changed and so did I.
We recently moved to Florida and we are starting a new chapter. My main focus on this blog has shifted. With that I'll be sharing more than home decor.
You'll see makeup tips, skincare, fashion and a little bit of decor as well. You can check out my Youtube channel as well and follow me along. I'll leave all of my older posts up as a reference. But you'll see lots of changes.
