First I wanted to thank you again for taking the time to take theΒ survey.
The survey gives me a good idea of what you enjoy the most about the blog, and what you don’t like so much.
So the survey says…. I suck at recipes LOL!
Well, how did you all know that cooking wasn’t really my thing?
Yes, most of your replied that you do not want to see my recipes.
Actually I love baking, but I don’t do it often, and that’s a good thing for my waist.
So I won’t be sharing any more recipe posts, unless it’s something amazing or out of this world!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know there were a few, yes just a few comments about not sharing photos of roses.
But, I love them and I am still going to share them.
It’s sort of my trademark, and part of my style.
Β I will try not to show them all of the time, but I do decorate with them, they are in my house and you will see them in photos.
I need to stay true to my style and share things I like.
I can’t and I won’t change my style, that would be fake and I don’t think you would enjoy coming here.
And since I don’t have specific photos for this post, your probably going to see photos, of roses.
Oh cringe, I know those darn roses!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of you enjoy my DIY, decorating, and how to save money decorating posts.
That’s most likely why you came here in the first place.
So, I will be working on more posts with that in mind.
But I only have one house, and I don’t want to drive you all nuts changing the same room over and over again, as I often see.
I am changing a few rooms, but I will try to share something new and unique as I just did with my kitchen stencil back splash.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you can view it HERE.
I’ll also be working on furniture transformations, as I find cool pieces.
It’s a year away to my next sale, but it’s a good time to start slowly working on pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I did receive a few comments on the ads, and I can’t take the ads down.
I am hoping in the future I will be able to do that, but not as of yet.
I have lots of expenses running my blog, so if I don’t get paid through those ads, this blog would not exist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also received a comment about not commenting back or responding to questions left on the blog.
If you read through my comments you will see I read and respond to each and everyone.
I do it because I truly enjoy reading your comments and I am always interested in what you have to say.
If you ask a specific question about something I shared, I will respond through the post and email.
But I normally just respond on the comment section.
And thank you for taking the time to comment, it really means a lot to me, and I get just as exited when I see your comment as you do when I respond :-).
Since this was an anonymous survey and I don’t know who left specific comments, I received one asking for help.
It was in regards to a country wreath?
If you sent me an email, I am sorry I never received it, can you please leave a message here so I can reply, thanks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also had a few comments about my paint, and the fact that I talk about it.
My paint is part of my business, so that’s not going to stop.
I won’t be mentioning unless I am using it on a project.
You don’t have to purchase my paint to do a project.
But I share all the materials I use when I share a project, so if someone wants to create what I just shared, they can π
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also received comments from many of you not wanting to see Holiday posts.
This actually surprised me!
So, IΒ will be sharing some, but I will limit Holiday posts.
I actually wasn’t planning on doing much this year, as I was thinking of doing less.
I won’t have so much to share anyway.
I do like to share a little Holiday stuff because someone is always looking for ideas on entertaining and decorating for the Holidays.
But I promise not to over do it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am sure I will be doing another survey at sometime.
I think it’s a great way for me to hear what you want.
Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to fill out the survey and for leaving comments.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know I mentioned this awhile ago, butΒ sometimes it takes a little while to get things rolling, since it’s me and only me that does all of the work here on my blog.
At this time, I don’t have any assistants helping me out.
Remember I told you that by subscribing you will be receiving extras that are only available to YOU the subscriber?
If you are a subscriber you will be receiving a monthly newsletter.
In that newsletter I am going to include something special for you.
It may be a free printable, it could be detailed information on a project I shared on the blog, or something not shared at all on the blog. But for your eyes only.
It’s a way of thanking you for following along.

I thought your blog was a nice,well rounded one with lots of different things but that of course is just my opinion….I can’t believe some don’t want to see your recipes (gasp! not nice) lol! The only problem I ever had with holiday posts is that there were soooo many…not on your blog but just everywhere and since I’m Canadian the US ones were not applicable but alot of them you could change up for other things.Oh well you know what they say…you can’t please everyone but I think it’s wonderful you take the time to get your followers input and smart too.
I for one will continue to read and enjoy!
Anne says
Yes, and I will admit I over did it last year with the Holiday posts Kim. I committed to many blog party hops. I am not going to do that this year.
And thank you π
Kate says
I love your blog, everything. Too many roses? That’s not even possible. Of course you should mention your paint. It’s part of your projects and professional journey. I just want to say thank you for the work you do and the information you share.
Anne says
Thank you Kate, LOL I know I never get sick of them ;-). Well I really appreciate it, thank you Kate π
Helen says
I always love the roses !
Tracy says
Love the blog, love the roses and the newsletter. Thank you!
Terri says
As I said in the survey I love the way your blog and newsletter is now. Please don’t change things because of a few negative comments. Some people are just ignorant and don’t know what they are talking about. I love your roses and as you said they are part of your signature look. I love your projects and I especially love Holiday projects and ideas. I hope you change nothing that you have been doing. Let the people who are not happy with something go elsewhere. There are hundreds of sites they can visit. Terri
Anne says
I won’t Terri, my style is who I am π I would never change that.And my roses will be share π
Angela says
Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your posts and your style.
Anne says
Thank you Angela!
Jennielee says
I love the roses…am jealous of your ability to capture the beauty! I also hope you do holiday ideas. Love the before & after decorating & how you accomplished it…need all the help I can get! We appreciate what you provide for us. Heartfelt thanks!
Anne says
Thank you so much Jennielee!
Khadija says
I love the roses and painting ideas. I don’t like recipes too much unless I look for them because they remind me I need to cook. π
I’d rather look at roses and think about painting! lol
The holiday posts from around the web get really overwhelming, especially when they begin before Halloween. Last year it seems there were MILLIONS everywhere. π
Anne says
LOL yeah, I am not fond of cooking Khadija, but sigh….I must π .I do really enjoy baking. Yes I agree, it overwhelms me as well. I am going to share Holiday ideas, but on a much smaller scale π
Janet Johnson says
I did not fill out your survey. I don’t understand how anyone could complain about your blog. Sure, some things may not interest me, but I just scroll down to something that does. No big deal. I do love the roses but if your blog contain nothing but roses, I would probably get bored. Keep up the great work (as long as you can, lol) I enjoy it very much and appreciate the time and effort you must put into it.
Anne says
Thanks so much Janet π
Bonnie Schulte says
I love your roses, love the holiday posts, and anything to do with decorating/fixer up stuff, and if it has to do with painting and being on a budget, like it even more. And as far as recipes go, I usually copy those I like, into a file…….but so far, that’s where they stay untouched, from every place/blog I copied them from. So, don’t feel badly about that, I think a lot of us, copy and paste, with good intentions to make something “good”, but end up with so many recipes, we are overwhelmed, and don’t remember them, and pretty much “save” them for another day. Keep up the good work,,,
Anne says
Thanks so much Bonnie :-). I have many recipes myself. The photos make me want to eat it, then when I comes to making it …well I forget about most of the recipes. I do cook and I cook healthy. But it’s not one of my favorite things to do.
Barbara W. says
When I see your roses they make me want to paint them. Only I paint mostly on cakes. Not for resale but I do cakes for birthdays instead of gifts. If I bake you a cake I don’t buy a gift. It’s my gift and I always make their favorite kind.ostly for family. Always be yourself…
Patty says
I love your blog, your style and yes I love your roses, who doesn’t like to see beautiful roses?
To be truthful I would love to learn more about painting furniture and your paint. What kind of businesswoman would you be if you didn’t talk about your own line of paint? Would it make since to talk about and use someone else’s paint? I think not..
You just keep doing what you are doing and good things will come your way. I’m a firm believer that hard work is always rewarded, a little luck always helps and treat people good and fair, you can’t go wrong.
Anne says
Thanks so much Patty! I will be sharing lots of tutorials, and fun projects π
Wendy Johnson says
I think sometimes the way questions are worded it is hard to express yourself without expanding, I did check not so many recipes, but because it was asked what would you see less of and I don’t like to cook, NOT because I don’t like your recipes. The same with some other questions that were simple box checkers. I do like your blog, like a variety and love your style.
Anne says
Thanks Wendy. I was just kidding when I said that my recipes suck. I thought it was funny that so many responded to least favorite post was recipes and would like to see less of, was recipes again. Thank you so much, I appreciate your sweet comments π
Debra@CommonGround says
Hi Anne, I have to tell you, I think surveys asking what people want from us is just not a good idea. We’re each individuals. None of us can do everything, we all have our strong points and maybe not so great on others. You do what you love and enjoy and try new things. Trying out recipes is great, maybe you don’t want to be a food blogger, but it’s your blog, try what YOU want to try. Photographing food is one of the hardest things in blogland, I guarantee all those food bloggers had to start somewhere. We don’t need permission to be ourselves. You take amazing photos and you have wonderful diy posts. I’m sure if I heard from everyone about all the things I didn’t do right or were’nt interesting to some, I’d give up blogging! I blog about things I love and enjoy, and feel passionate about, and part of that is sharing Holiday decor and interests. We each do our best, we just can’t please each and every person. Non bloggers don’t always understand how much work and an investment that blogging really is. Be yourself, you’re the only White Lace Cottage. stay true to who you are! xoxo Debra
Anne says
Debra that’s true, and I will. And thank you for your sweet comments.
Joanne Boulter says
Anne, I am really disappointed in some of your followers. You blog is amazing!!!!!!! So do all the holiday posts you want and keep those roses coming! Having a blog does take money out of our pocket book, so I see no reason for you to not try to make some money through it. True followers love you for you and that is why they keep coming back. I love that you introduced your paint line and love the projects you do with it. Advertise all you want about it! How many of us get a chance to do something like that and get paid for it. You go girl! Love it all and love you! Jo
Anne says
Thank you Joanne. I’m not disappointed, I asked for real opinions. And I am not taking anything personal. But the survey gives me an idea of what most of you like. I am not changing my blog, but I may change the way I do some things.
Sherry Stuifbergen says
I like your posts, your blog. I enjoy reading about your projects, even though some of them don’t apply to me. You are ambitious and don’t just sit around in coffee claches. I admire that. I would love to be your neighbor and we could “feed” off one another with our ideas. You would be a good “stimulant.” We both enjoy vintage things, old things with character. I don’t paint furniture for make-overs, I refinish them with paint remover. Very few pieces in my house are painted. I still enjoy the looks of your home, especially your kitchen. It is a calming place…not your “usual suburbia” decor. I like the large scale. Sherry
Anne says
Thanks so much Sherry! I feel the same way, as I know many of you come here because we have a vintage soul connection. Yes it would be wonderful to actually see you all in person.
