Make Money With Affiliate Marketing
Five years ago I started my blog because I wanted to share my love of decorating. I didn’t know that I could make money just from my blog. Over the past year I heard about affiliate marketing and how I could monetize my blog. If you’re a new blogger or have been blogging for a few years but aren’t taking advantage of affiliate marketing keep reading. I wish I had listened to my friends who were making money using affiliate links. This is one of the easiest ways to monetize your blog.( This post contains affiliate links, please read disclosure policy) How did I learn how to do this? A blogger friend Tasha Agruso wrote this book Affiliate Marketing For Bloggers.
What are affiliate links and how can you make money from them?
Affiliate links are basically ads that you can earn a commission on. The amount of commissions earned really depends on the company you’re working with. There are several ways to work these into a blog post which Tasha explains in her book. Each time someone clicks on a link to make a purchase you get a percentage of that.
Stay Ethical
I don’t use affiliate links for the sake of making an income. Meaning that if I don’t believe in a product or if I wouldn’t purchase it myself I don’t share it with you, my readers. It’s just wrong. Years ago I worked in a hair salon. Part of my income was selling hair products. The owner of the salon pushed us to sell a certain amount of money in products each month. I hated that stress because I can’t sell a product just to sell it. I was only able to sell products to clients that I thought really needed it. That’s how I feel about affiliate marketing and my blog. I only share products or services that I would indeed use or have used myself.
This Book Is The Bomb!
If you’d truly like to make money using affiliate ads I’d highly recommend Tasha’s book. She goes through each step of how you can make money from affiliate marketing. Since there are several ways to do this. Which I had no idea before I started reading her book. I purchased her advanced course because you get more bang for your buck. She included several videos that are so helpful and a Facebook group that’s great to go to for that extra help and support needed.
Be Patient
I promise that you will start earning money using affiliate links but you need to learn how to do this properly. That’s why I love Tasha’s book Affiliate Marketing For Bloggers. She makes it so easy to understand. But don’t expect to make lots of money with affiliate links when you first start implementing what you learn, it takes time. Below is a graph of my amazon earnings. I recently started making the changes that I learned in her book and you can see that in a short time my number of sales has increased.
I can see when I’ve been working hard and adding those links and when I haven’t concentrated. I still have lots to do, but I’m confident with the knowledge that I’ve learned in Tasha’s book that I’ll be making more money from affiliate ads.
One Last Thing
If you’re not a blogger and you’re reading this I just wanted to explain how blogging works. If you don’t blog you probably have no idea how a blogger such as myself makes money and what I do to make an income. Let’s start out with the hours and time it takes to write a blog. I spend twelve hours seven days a week working on my blog. That includes all the writing, photography, editing, social media and projects I’m working on behind the scenes. I also have a Youtube channel that I’ve been working on adding videos which also takes time to shoot and edit. Some people think I get products sent for free. I never get anything for free. If I share a product on my page it’s something I truly love and use. And for that product I’m working on promoting it for that company. My ads and affiliate links on my page help pay for the costs of running this blog which includes my web host, email service, web security, photo editing services those are just a few.
Highly Recommend
I highly recommend Tasha’s book for affiliate marketing. Take a look at the reviews on her page and see for yourself. My only regret is that I wish I had bought this book sooner!
