Christy Linens Luxurious Bedding
Christy Linens have been known for their luxurious towels since 1850. I’d like to share some of the history about Christy Linens and why these are so special and luxurious. I’m so impressed with the story of Christy Linens and I think you will be too! (This is a sponsored post please see disclosure policy)
After returning to England Henry Christy was so impressed with the looped fabric that was new to the Western world at that time and he shared it with his inventor brother. Henry’s brother created a machine that allowed terry toweling to be created on a larger scale.
A year later at the great exposition in 1851 the first terry towel was produced and shown. Her Majesty Queen Victoria was very impressed and ordered a set of these. This was the beginning of this amazing company.
- In 1951 Christy celebrated centenary of a 100 years of the Turkish towel which is still carried and has been a huge seller for over 160 years!
- In 1977 special towels were created to celebrate the Silver Jubilee and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II
- In 1988 Christy linens became the official towel of supplier the Championships, Wimbledon
For over 160 years Christy Linens knowledge of great quality luxurious towels has also crossed over and are known for the best luxurious bed linens.
Now you can see why I’m so impressed with Christy Linens. There are many things we all can be a bit frugal about but when it comes to linens you really need to choose an excellent quality. I’ve made the mistake before of purchasing cheap towels or linens only to have them fall apart. Or sheets will start pilling. So when I started my search for new linens in my bedroom I came across Christy Linens.
Before I share the bed linens that I choose for my bedding I wanted to share a little more about the different fibers. This may help you as you are purchasing your linens.
Some linens have two fiber blends such as cotton and linen. Some blends even include silk and linen which are natural fibers. Cotton isn’t just cotton it depends on the variety of cotton and where it’s grown. The most important thing to remember is the length and fineness of the fibers. The longer and finer the fiber is the smoother and luxurious the yarn is.
- Cotton percale is the most durable. It’s made from high quality cotton with a thread count of 180 or more.
- Cotton sateen is made from a woven cotton blend. This blend feels luxurious and soft against the skin.
- Easy care percale cotton is a finish that’s added to cotton percale. The finish does wash out over time. But the finish makes it easier to launder and requires less ironing.
- Egyptian cotton is known for its superior quality. It’s probably the most popular and purchased sheet because of the quality.
- GSM is the grams per square meter. What is it and why does that matter? Grams per meter is the way weight is measured in a towel. The higher the GSM the thicker and more luxurious the towel is. Christy towels do offer selections with a lower GSM if drying time is an issue. They make a luxurious towel with a lower GSM that doesn’t affect the quality.
- Hydrocotton – Christy has a patent pending on this technology. It’s a unique fiber cotton that traps the air so wash after wash towels get fatter and fluffier.
- Pima cotton has similar properties of Egyptian cotton as Its soft and absorbent. Some prefer Pima cotton over Egyptian cotton its personal preference.
- Silk is sensitive to over exposure of light. Take care of this fabric and don’t over expose it to the light. Color variations make occur with this fabric so keep that in mind.
- Supima cotton is one of the finest cotton yarns with extra long fibers.
- Thread counts the measure of quality to the number of threads used per square inch. Percale fabrics have a thread count of 180 or more. Christy bed linens have over 200 thread count so it’s classified as a percale.
Now that we know a little more about towels and linens let me show you the linens I choose for my bed. I do have a bedspread that I use a bed skirt. I don’t like bed skirts with my bed. It always ends up looking messy. This bedspread does the trick. The duvet cover I choose is called Textured Paisley Natural.
This has a raised textured pattern that not only looks luxurious but feels luxurious too. It’s made with 100% Cotton and 250 Thread Count Jacquard on the front and 100% Cotton, 200 Thread Count Percale on the reverse side. This is so soft and luxurious I can’t wait to jump into bed and snuggle. This has a hidden button enclosure.
With this set I chose the matching pillowcases. This color combination works perfectly with my new faux plank wall. To match my new duvet I choose the Renaissance sheet set in cream. This is made from 100% Egyptian cotton and 250 thread count. I’ve been sleeping like a baby since I’ve added these new sheets to my bed. The quality is like none that I’ve ever used. Just as a mattress is important so is a good quality sheet set.
Right now Christy Linens is offering 60% off of their duvets. Linens are always a great gift to give someone. Think about someone moving into a new home, a newly married couple. These quality linens would make a wonderful gift for anyone special in your life or for yourself. They do offer more than linens. Make sure you visit Christy Linens for their selection of towels, bedding, robes, pillows, and throws.
You may have noticed that my bed looks a little different. I painted my bed using Heirloom Traditions paint in Mocha. After the paint was dry I added a mixture of tarnished sliver and peal topcoat for a beautiful finish. I’d say that my bedroom looks a bit farmhouse glam. Let me share the before and after photo of my room transformation.
I love the simpler look in my room. I still have several things to address in this room. Including repainting my armoire. I can’t wait to share! So what do you think of the changes so far?

Hi. Thanks for the info on the fibers of the sheets and towels. Whenever I’m faced with a new purchase I can’t seem to remember which is which. New sheets are nice, but my favorite, softest sheets are old percale ones that I’ve had since I was a teenager. So soft. I still use the pillowcases because they’re so soft to lie on. One additional bit of info, that I found out the hard way, is that the higher the thread count, the warmer they are. I bought some hotel-style 800 thread count sheets, thinking they would be softer. But no, they made me so hot that I could never use them. They’d probably be great for people in colder climes, but here in San Francisco, they’re just too warm. Anyway, the room looks great, Anne!
