You will probably not see as many new posts in the next week as I get ready for my vintage chic sale.
This is the sale I held in my home last summer.
I transformed my garage into a shop, you can view the transformation HERE.
I also shared what I learned from my first home sale, you can read all about that HERE and HERE.
For this year’s sale, I have already placed an ad in the paper, and I am advertising on Craigslist.
One of the lessons I learned last year is that I should have advertised more.
This year I am on top of that.
And as you can see my garage is much fuller than it was last year.
Most of the pieces are from my personal collection.
If you’ve seen in photographed on my blog or in a magazine, it’s in my garage.
So why am I downsizing and purging so much?
I shared recently that I am slowly downsizing, and getting ready for our future move.
It’s still three years away, but our last move was exhausting.
I didn’t have time to go through and purge, so I packed it all up which was a ton of work.
At the time I was a plate hoarder collector.
I had packed, I think 20 or more boxes of plates!
I had no idea I had collected that many.
So once we moved into our home I purged big time!
But since it was winter when we moved in, I couldn’t have a garage sale or any kind of sale.
So I contacted local shop owners to sell what I no longer wanted.
Anyway, over time I started to accumulate more again.
And here I am downsizing lots.
It feels wonderful!
As soon as I get things in order, patch up holes in my walls from things that are not longer hanging on my walls, I will be sharing my home in photos once again.
I really want to hold off on painting my home until we get closer to putting our home on the market.
Painting is a lot of work, especially when you have tall ceilings as we do in our home.
Next home, no tall ceilings.
Many of my pieces I never thought I would sell.
But it’s just stuff, and I have started feeling overwhelmed with what I have in my home.
And again, I don’t want to move all of this stuff so it’s time to go.
Time for someone else to enjoy what I have enjoyed.
My future plans include traveling more and enjoying experiences and not stuff.
So if you are local or almost local I hope to see you.
The sale will be held May 28th 5-8 pm and May 29th 10am – 5pm
In Woodstock, IL
I still have much more coming out into the garage, but I am running out of room!
You can sort of see what I am selling, small furniture, architectural salvage, linens, some plates, vintage rugs, and more!
If you are traveling from a near by state, there are many, many local shops I can share with you to make it worth your while to travel.
I had several shoppers last year travel quite far, and they discovered a few great shops that are now there favorite shops!
I will have a list of these at the sale.
Hope to see you!

Hi Anne, I know exactly what you mean. the exact same thing happened with us, and I have so much to sell, even after a mega garage sale before we moved the first time. I don’t have room for it now, and all it causes is stress. Hope you have a great sale. Everything looks beautiful!

Debra, isn’t it amazing what we accumulate. And until you move or are thinking about moving you don’t realize it. It feels wonderful to have less.

It all looks awesome. I wish I were going to be in town for your sweet sale. We are leaving for Mickey Mouse Land in Florida on Tuesday for a week. I know you will have a great sale and your stuff looks so beautiful. I am trying to down size too with the possibility of us moving too so it probably is better I cannot come to your sale I would be buying to much lol! Have a great week and great sale.

Everything looks so beautiful, Anne. Smart of you to begin purging and letting go of some things ahead of your move! I wish you well and that your sale will be very successful.
