Upcycle A Funnel Into A Planter
Planter upcycle project, turning a funnel into a planter is what I’m sharing today.
This could not be an easier planter project!
I found this funnel several years ago, and I also had an old lampstand.
I decided to put these together and turn them into a cool upcycled planter.
Okay so here is my funnel, wire, screening, and I think these are wire pliers.
Before I started on my planter, I used some Dawn dish soap to clean the rest of the oil residue that was left on this funnel.
This funnel already had a hole, so I carefully drilled another hole on the opposite side.
**Please use caution when drilling holes in metal, use correct tools, and goggles**
Once I had my second hole drilled, I took out some wire I had in my stash.
Honestly I don’t know the thickness because I no longer have the packaging.
But you want the wire to be easy to work with, but thick enough to be able to use it as a hanger for your plant.
I took my wire and thread it through the holes twice.
It’s not a really neat job, but I never look for perfection.
And I prefer a wonky and shabby look.
Then I took a little screening that I had left from another project and placed it inside my funnel planter.
This will prevent the dirt from washing out of the funnel planter.
As you can see I made sure to get the screen down into the funnel as much as I could.
And here’s my funnel planter finished.
Several years ago I found an old lamp base at a garage sale.
I was using this in my bedroom for my mini chandelier, but since I no longer have that in my bedroom, I am now going to use it to hang my funnel plant holder.
I know we won’t all find a funnel at a thrift shop, but you can use a newer funnel or take a look around next time you are out at a thrift shop.
Think outside of the box at what you can do with some of those treasures.
Upcycling is a very frugal way to bring new life to pieces, and it really makes something unique.
If you’re going to hang this a different way than I did, I would drill four holes.
You can see mine is leaning forward a bit, but the lamp base helps so it won’t totally tip over.
So adjust this to what will work for you as you hang it.
This is a pretty easy project, from start to finish took me about ten minutes.
