How To Make A Non Seasonal Wreath

Today I wanted to share how easy it is to make a wreath, and it will cost you zero dollars.

As you may already know I am pretty cheap frugal, and I try to save money whenever I can.

So going out and buying craft materials for projects is not something I do often at all.

I wanted to show you two different wreath ideas.

These were both made using what I already have.

Let’s talk about this one first.

Don’t you just love this.

It has a soft romantic shabby look and I love it!

First you need a wreath shape, for this one I used a picture frame.

And it doesn’t need to be round, it can be oval as this one is or square or even rectangle.

I had already used this frame to make a wreath using dried roses, but it was getting faded and yucky.

First I had to take all the dried roses, and glue off.

I was left with this frame.

I started cutting pieces of lace and tying it all around my wreath.

I didn’t measure, and neither do you, just look at it as you go along.

The look depends on what you want, if you want a fluffy look keep it a little longer, shorter will give you a different look as well.

And don’t worry about them all being the same size.

As you are working you will be able to tell what size is needed.

So I kept working on this around my wreath and this happened…..

I ran out of lace, no big deal there are several solutions to this.

One, I could have found another type of lace and went back and added that in the mix.

Yes, I have piles and piles of lace and ribbons.

But instead I pulled out some tulle that I had, and made floral shapes.

This is a little hard to explain, but basically I cut off a piece of tulle, and started wrapping it and shaping it into a flower.

It’s actually pretty easy to do.

Once I got my shape, I took my glue gun and added it to my wreath.

But be careful, don’t burn yourself!

You’ll have to glue the bottom of the flower, and any areas that want to come apart.

You won’t see the glue once you are done.

As I worked around my wreath, I slid some of the tied lace down the frame and added a few of these flowers.

Keep working around your wreath and filling it in.

Once your done you can added a piece of ribbon to hang it and that’s it!

I love how fluffy this wreath is, and it can be kept out all year since it’s not seasonal.

Let’s make the next wreath.

This time I was using a wreath form I already had.

I just pulled it apart.

I didn’t want to see the green so I started wrapping fabric around the green wreath.

To keep it on I added a dab of green on each end.

Once it’s completely covered we are ready to start decorating the wreath.

I took some shabby fabric, cut a slice in it then tore it off.

It’s similar to what I did a few years ago on this wreath.

Once I had enough fabric, I started tying it all around my wreath form.

Just continue working on your piece until it’s completely covered.

I love the Shabby Boho look this wreath has.

And again, don’t measure your fabric strips.

If you use a wire or thinner frame you will get a fuller fluffier look.

This wreath frame was pretty thick, so even though it’s fluffy, it’s not as fluffy as my wire wreath I created.

Not long ago I shared how I made a wreath using what I think is a plumbing supply.

So what can you make a wreath with?

If you have pine cones what about making a wreath with those.

If you don’t like the color, then why not dip them into a little paint.

Or a little glue and add glitter.

If you have a wreath form with silk flowers and you don’t like the color of the flowers, take it apart and dip those flowers into a little chalk type paint.

If you want a seasonal wreath use pieces that are of that season.

If you want to make a wreath that can be used for any season and reflect your style, think of things that you can pull together that you already have that will work.

See I told you, it’s super easy to make a wreath using what you already have.

I guarantee you already have things in your home that you can use to make a wreath.

This is why it’s so important to look for things while you are going to garage sales and thrift shops.

You know, like pieces of fabrics, frames, tulle, wire, anything that can be repurposed.

Next time you are in need of pieces for a project, you’ll be able to go through your stash instead of heading out to the store!
