Paint A Wall Without Using Painters Tape

Today I’m going to share a very simple trick on how to paint a wall without using painters tape. This tip will seriously save you so much money and time. So how did I discover this tip of painting a room without using painters tape? Years ago I was painting my family room. Before I started my project I used a few rolls of painters tape along the ceiling, the base boards and along the windows. I painted my walls and when I was finished it looked horrible because I had bleed through everywhere! I wasted time and money and in the end my painted room looked like an amateur painted it. How To Get A Professional Paint Application

One of my biggest secrets of how to paint a wall without using painters tape and getting a professional paint application is using a good angle or sash brush. My favorite sash brush is this purdy brush. This brush will save you lots of time and money. Let me share how I paint a room with this brush.

Cut Out A Room With A Sash Brush

Before I start to use my roller on my walls, I first begin my painting by using my Purdy sash brush. Take your paint brush and dip it into the paint. Remove most of the paint off as you don’t want drips on your wall. As you place your brush on your wall the longer side of the angle brush should be facing your outer wall. Hold your brush at a slight angle down so you won’t get it on your ceiling. Then slowly start moving your paint brush the right. You need to concentrate on applying paint to your wall near your ceiling. This brush will make it easy for you to get your paint on your wall right at the line.  You can see how I’m holding the brush down and I’m only getting paint near the ceiling but not on it. As you get closer to the wall you’ll want to flip the brush over so the angle is near the side wall.

Remember you’re just doing the cut out work using this brush. You don’t want to paint the entire wall with this brush. After you finishing cutting out the top of your wall you can start painting the corners. You don’t have to be as careful. A paint roller can’t get into the corner so you’ll need to paint your corners with this brush. Finally you’ll paint the bottom of your wall using your brush in the same fashion that you did with the top part of your wall. This time making sure not to get paint on your trim. If you’re using this brush you won’t get paint on your trim. The angle of the brush is the key to getting clean and neat paint job.
