I am definitely a summer girl, but one of my favorite scents of the season is the aroma and flavor of cinnamon apple french toast.
This truly smells heavenly while making this in your kitchen.
I wanted to share this recipe with you,but I have to admit I had to really think about how I make this.
When I cook I don’t measure,I do when I bake.
As I was making this I had to measure so I could share this with you.
The recipe is pretty basic as far as French toast.
I bought some amazing cinnamon raisin bread from Panera.
Cinnamon Raisin French toast with Cinnamon brown sugar apple topping
Ingredients:
French toast
************
Cinnamon raisin bread sliced thick
Two eggs
Milk
Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
vanilla 1/2 teaspoon
Topping:
*********
Three Gala apples peeled and diced
1/2 cup – 1 cup of light brown sugar (depending on how much syrup you want)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
Peel and dice apples
Place in microwave safe bowl.
Add 1 tablespoon of butter
Next add 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and 1/2 or 1 cup of light brown sugar
Now this is where you need to decide what setting to cook it at.I placed mine in the microwave on high for 3 minutes. But yours may vary. You will want the sugar and butter to melt and the apples to get soft. After 1 1/2 minutes stop and stir check to see how it is cooking. If the ingredients are not yet condensed continue microwave cooking.
IMPORTANT MAKE SURE TO WATCH THIS WHILE YOU ARE COOKING IN THE MICROWAVE.
Use your own discretion as far as time while cooking. The sugar and butter should be melted and when you pierce a fork through the apple it should be soft.
Next make the French toast.
Basic recipe but add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
To serve simply add the cooked cinnamon apples on top of the French toast.
I like adding just a bit of whip cream too sprinkled with just a bit of cinnamon.
This smells wonderful when you are making it and it tastes delicious too!
