Recently I shared my next project ,my master bathroom.
I still have one more thing to do but I thought I would share my progress so far.
Lets first look back at how it looked.
Our master bathroom is really small,and it is not in our budget for any big remodel.
Which means I need to work with what I already have.
Here is what our bathroom looks like now.
The paint I used was Glidden Americas finest,and the color I used on my walls in my bathroom, is the same color I have on my walls in my home.
I will share that color at the end of this post.
I also painted the cabinets Annie Sloan Coco and highlighted the inside with Old ochre.
That little lamp is an alabaster lamp I found at a thrift shop,it works great as a nightlight.
Love this warm rich color,it is one of my favorites from her line.
I bet you thought I would paint these white.
Well I do love white,but my counters are a cultured marble with these same tones.
Yes I know cultured marble,but I am working on what I already have and I am on a tight budget.
The knobs are from Hobby Lobby,they were on clearance for 2.00 a piece several months ago.
You are probably wondering about my light,well it’s gone.
I replaced it with this chandelier.
This chandelier was a very good price at 145.00!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now this is the part that it gets a little interesting.
I was not sure if I could hang a chandelier in my bathroom.
I was told not to hang a chandelier in a bathroom.
But I have seen so many bathrooms with hanging chandeliers,and I really love that look.
I decided to ask several of my friends what they thought.
Because those friends have chandeliers in hanging in their bathroom.
One friend who’s husband knows all about fire safety told me, yes I could indeed hang a chandelier safely in my bathroom.
And she told me it was perfectly safe as long as I did not hang it over a tub or shower.
Our bathroom does not get steamy,and we use our fan.
So my advice is if you are not sure or don’t feel confident about hanging one in your bathroom,ask a professional.
I am just sharing what I did.
And yes I installed this chandelier myself.
My husband and I have always installed our own light fixtures.
On a couple of occasions we have had electricians install them.
Last year I hired an electrician to install the lights in my laundry room and living room,because it was a little complicated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that this chandelier is hanging in my bathroom,I love it!
It really gives it a different look and feel.
As you can see,I did not hang it from the ceiling,we hung it in the same spot it was.
The electrical box was almost centered over the mirror.
I put the ceiling hooks on a slight angle which makes it look perfectly centered.
That towel rack is an antique train luggage rack, I found at an antique shop.
We don’t have very good storage in this bathroom,this works great for our towels.
This was not a thrifty find at 95.00 but I thought it was a good price because I have seen these sell for much more.
I also added a ruffled shower curtain,it’s just for looks.
We a glass shower door ,but the curtain gives it a softer look in here.
This room is tight,it was hard to get a good shot the curtain, and you can see I get a little outside glare in this room.
I told you that you would be seeing this prom dress again.
That mirror was found at a thrift shop a few years ago,I already had it hanging on that wall,but I switched it around and hung it vertical instead of horizontal.
I like the color of the mirror, so I kept it as is.
I bet you noticed the floor looks a bit different.
I purchased a few bamboo runners from Decor Steals,one is in my kitchen.
I love the look of a wood floor in here,it disguises my ugly laminate floor tiles.
We use a shower mat,so I don’t worry about this getting wet.
It has worked out perfectly so far.
Just for fun and interest I added that vintage chippy bed rail.
I love the color and patina.
What’s next in here?
Well I want to frame my mirror and I am looking for a replacement for my medicine cabinet,not shown.
For this project I used mostly what I already had.
As soon as the weather is better I will frame out the mirror.
It is hard to get out anywhere right now with all the snow and cold!

Love, Love, Love it. We have chandeliers in our bathrooms too… in fact, we have one in almost every room of the house. They are a MUST in my book… and you can’t have a chandie without a dimmer switch!!! Ha! Looks fabulous.

Your bathroom looks so pretty I love the changes you’ve made in there, The chandelier is such a great addition. I need to repaint my bathroom too. Just haven’t done it yet because it’s such a chore! Bathrooms are difficult to paint because of all the cutting in everywhere and working around all the fixtures. I do plan on doing mine some time this year though.
Anne says
I don’t enjoy painting bathrooms or kitchens Kelly.Next is my daughter’s bathroom….UGH!

Very pretty master bath Anne. Mine is also at this time a work in progress 🙂 in a tiny space. We will NOT be doing any renovations, but working with what we have available.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Sometimes all you can do is work with what you already have 🙂

Your bathroom looks great. I had an idea, don’t know if it would work for you or not.
Could you hang towels from the bed rail? Just a thought.
*Smiles*
Anne says
I actually was thinking of doing that Pamela 🙂

It all looks nice. I have a chandelier on my tub and was never told not to. It’s not going to fall or anything. It is hardwired to the ceiling. You go girl hanging your own lights. My hubby does ours except for the last chandy that was just too high for him to get to. Love the painted cabinets. Our bathroom was refreshed with just paint and new lights a few years ago. I really would love to gut it and start over, but hubby said no way. Poo.
Anne says
Me too Kim,but our budget says poo,LOL! Someday <3
