I found some vintage keys and I thought it would be fun to make her something special using some bits and pieces from her Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother.
I had an idea in my mind and I just went for it! I found some glass beads from a broken earring and another dangling earring missing it’s partner. That flower is new but I thought it would be perfect for this piece!
On the back I added a page from a vintage french book and added decoupage and a little glitter too! What girl does not like a little extra bling!
I added the music notes because she plays the Viola, the number 16 for of course her 16th birthday and the letter G for her first initial.
I had a box that was given to me from her Great,Great,Great Aunt. But it was in poor shape so I added some french scrapbook paper I found at Hobby lobby.I really love the color!
Now I don’t know why I forgot to photo graph it but I wrapped the box with jute and added a vintage sparkly earring to the center.
She just received it yesterday and she is thrilled with it! I am so glad!I hope it is something she will keep with her and think fondly of her Great Grandparents and Aunties.
Have you ever made something special for someone? Was it something you have never made?

Oh Anne, what a lovely gift you made for your niece! A few years ago, I made heirloom things for my family using sweaters of my Mom’s. That same year, I also made recipe books using my Mom’s favorite recipes. My family loved the gifts and to this day, they still talked about those gifts. I’m sure your niece will forever treasure this gift. Enjoy your day, Gail

Tears are rolling down my cheeks as I’m reading your post. As mom of the sweet sixteen recipient and granddaughter of the former owner of the old pieces, I can’t express how touching your beautiful gift was. Today’s kids are so high tech it is wonderful to have something like this that is literally a key to their past. Thank you for your creativity and kindness.

Hi!!! 🙂 Oh yes, the Bath & Body Works candle is pretty strong! I walked in/walked out yesterday and it smelled like someone just baked cookies in the house.. so thumbs up on the scent throw on these, but not as intense as say, a Yankee candle. Have a great day!!!!
