I am challenging myself making art with what I already have in my home. Valentines day is just around the corner,I don't do lots of decorating because my home always has a bit of romance to it. But I thought it would be pretty to make something simple to hang in my home. I find interesting things while out thrift shopping. A while back I found a roll of wall paper and a roll of pink wax paper. I decided to make a paper heart bunting using these papers. I won't give a step by step because this is very simple. But I will share how I make a perfect heart shape. I simply fold the paper I am using in half and at the fold I create a heart shape. Kind of like a question mark. After you cut it out ,it makes a perfect heart shape on both sides. I bet you already knew this. I also ... View Post
Tablescape Mismatched Dishes
It's such a gloomy day here again I thought I would share a spring inspired tablescape using my mismatched dishes. At one time I had many more dish sets. But I started running out of room so I donated many of them. I kept the pieces that were my favorite. And let me remind you again nothing that I used on this tablescape was bought brand new. Everything shown was found at thrift shops, antique shops, or garage sales. We use those napkins every single night. It really is not bother for me to wash napkins, and I don't iron my napkins or tablecloths. If they are a little wrinkled that is fine with me,remember I am all about imperfect. These were found many years ago,I kept asking the shop keeper if she would sell these, she kept telling me no. Until one day she said guess what I ... View Post
Blogging Decorating Your Home
When I started blogging I wanted to share ideas and inspire others when decorating your home. I wanted to show that you don't have to have a big budget or allot of money to make your home beautiful. And I wanted to share that sometimes you don't have to spend any money at all and still decorate or change your home. I am just like you,I love sitting down in a cozy spot with my warm beverage and look at beautiful magazines for inspiration. When I was a little girl I loved decorating my bedroom. I would often move my furniture around and place my pretty things in different spots for a new look. And I remember going to garage sales with my Grandparents. I think that is what inspired me the most. Hunting for treasures for such a little money. I love finding pieces that were once ... View Post
Making Changes And A Pink Chair
I am continuing to make a few changes in my home while doing some early spring cleaning.I just recently found a pink chair and thought it would work perfectly with a pink chair that I found a few years ago. The colors are not an exact match ,but they are very similar in color and style. Just a soft touch of color for my kitchen. Yes that bamboo mat is from Decor Steals. I know you remember recently I changed my dining room around. I removed the corner cabinet that was in my dining room and added it to my kitchen. And since I was changing things around I decided to change my dish placement as well. I decided to put my Georgian Homer Laughlin dish collection in my French Cabinet, and then add my white dish collection to my corner cabinet. It's hard to get a good shot with the ... View Post
Creating A Cozy Home
During the winter months we spend allot of time indoors,It's why I love creating a cozy home. We spend most of our time in our family room with our fireplace on. That hanging candelabra is a recent deal from decor steals. I felt that this room was lacking something ,and adding a working chandelier was not an option. When I saw this pop up on Decor Steals as part of the daily deals I ordered quickly! I love the look and feel of this piece. The color works well in here too. If I painted it white I think it would get lost in a sea of white! I added candles for decorative purposes only! Never, ever burn candles next to a wall or ceiling! Blankets are always close by and I love my shawl. I have several of these and they keep me nice and warm while sitting next to the ... View Post
Nesting Painting Purging
During these long winter months of nesting I start the process of painting and purging. I am not painting any walls,Oh maybe just a few touch ups. But I will start moving things from one room to the next, and even giving things a fresh coat of paint. I was getting tired of my dining room hutch color and decided to brighten it up with a fresh coat of paint. I used a combination of Annie Sloan Pure white and Old Ochre paint. My table was painted a few years ago with latex paint and I wanted to match it as much as I could. But I only wanted to use the paints I already had on hand. I am still not finished,my cabinet needs a few coats of wax. As I was painting I decided to change things around a little in here too. Yes my wall clock also received a coat of paint, pure white Annie ... View Post
