As you know we will be starting construction soon of our screened porch.Recently I came across this chic vintage set of wrought iron chairs and a metal table. First lets talk about the table. I forgot to take a photo of the table before, but the color was hunter green. And it was a thrifty find for 4.99! The size and shape were just what I was looking for our screened in porch. As I was driving home I spotted a set of four vintage wrought iron chairs. Yes this is what they looked like before. They are all in great condition. I love the bit of rust and chippy patina on the metal. But the cushions were dirty and stained from age. I tried cleaning them but the dirt would not budge. I decided to paint them using Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Coco and Old ... View Post
The Scoop
Thank you so much for the sweet responses to my photos. With so many of you liking number 3 that is the one I chose! I will be adding that photo to my side bar. The hostess for this weeks party is Linsey! Welcome back to the Scoop Link Party! Just a couple of new things to share with ya'll today... First of all, I finally got around to adding little burlap curtains to my hutch! I bought this hutch for $75 from a thrift store a couple of years ago and they had lost the doors to it. So now I can hide that unsightly clutter! I found these cute little pre-made curtains on ebay for cheap. Sorry about the yellow pic. I took this just now, late at night with no good light source. Also...I think the chairs look a bit funky. I'm trying to phase out my ... View Post
Barn Door And A Self Portrait
I have been wanting to change my self portrait for awhile now, and recently while driving by an old barn the door really struck me as a perfect spot for a self portrait. The photo I have on my blog was taken over the winter. I needed one to share in Kerryanne's magazine Shabbilicious. During the cold winter months you can't find a good location to take a photo. It is too cold and well there is usually lots of snow on the ground. I surely would not have a photo taken without a winter coat on. I am going to be honest here: I really don't like my photo taken. I have never been a photogenic person. And the older I get the less I like photos of myself. But when you have a blog it is important to share a photo of yourself. I feel you can get a real ... Farmhouse Cottage Style Living Room Revisited
My living room is a mixture of farmhouse cottage style. But it did not start out looking that way. When I first started blogging almost two years ago my living room was anything but farmhouse style. The sofa was the biggest eye sore with it's 1980's tapestry pattern. It was and still is not in our budget to replace it.Especially for a room we rarely use. The fist thing that was changed in this room was the wall paint color. Here is what my living room looked like two years ago with a gold paint color. EEK! Pretty bad I know! Ah the lovely tapestry...... the dark wood...a touch of white painted furniture. And taking the photo with a flash does did not make this room look any better. Here are more photos of the before. Please someone turn on the lights....it's ... View Post
The Scoop
Hope you all had a great weekend! Fall is in the air around here and I am slowly starting my fall decor. Yesterday I shared some exciting news you can read it HERE Today I will share a little more news with you.I am gearing up to do a mini makeover on our master bathroom and my daughters bathroom. With the cost of our big project I need to stick to a very small budget. Most of the changes will be with paint. I will share the progress as I go along. But I recently found this old train luggage rack that will make it's way into my bathroom for towels. I hung it on my farmhouse door just to take a photo of it. This is an oldie and it was found at one of my favorite antique shops. Love the patina on this piece.....and it is really heavy. We don't have ... View Post
And The Cow Says Moo Vintage Milk Pitcher
I am busy gathering and decorating for fall.Recently I came across this vintage milk pitcher. I knew it would work perfectly in my home not only for fall but year round! This pitcher is in amazing condition on the outside. It almost looks brand new. But in the inside there are cracks and crazing. I can imagine this on a farmhouse table at one time filled with fresh milk right from a cow! We are having a rainy day here today. Not much sunlight for photos. I decided to shoot photos of vintage milk pitcher on my favorite pink chippy chair. I moved our farmhouse table out of the way and put the chair in the best light we have in our house right now the patio door in our kitchen. But that is about to change very soon. The lighting in ...
