My daughter was home from school yesterday. She wanted to have a girls day out and shop but the temperature was 6 and the windchill was -14. I am no one turn down a day out shopping, but when it is that cold I don't go out anywhere, not even to shop! Instead we stayed home by the fire and did a little crafting. I wanted to make something for Valentines day. I really don't decorate for that holiday, but thought it would be fun to make a few heart wreaths. Since we were stuck inside, I only used what I already had on hand. I had some scrap muslin, some dizzy frizzy. I found the dizzy frizzy at the thrift shop for .50. I knew when I found the dizzy frizzy that I would figure out a fun craft project to use it for. This craft is so simple, I just took some wire and made heart ... View Post

I just adore the rose pattern on these napkins. Again we use these every day! And I don't iron who has time for that? One of my favorite mini vintage crazed ironstone pitchers.I do love white ironstone. But I also love finding pieces that are stained ,crazed and cracked showing there true age. Aren't these pretty! I am so happy to hear many of you also enjoy using your pretty things. That is what they are meant for so enjoy them. Today my daughter is off of school. We are sitting by the fire and crafting.I will share with you tomorrow what we are working on today.I will give you a hint.It has ... View Post
Using Pretty Linens Everyday
One of my favorite decorating books is Rachel Ashwell's Treasure hunting and decorating. Even though my taste has changed some since I first read this there are elements of this book that I still love. I remember reading this for the first time many years ago and admiring her sharing that she uses her pretty dishes and napkins everyday. Oh my using pretty linens and dishes every day?Why had I not thought of this!Well ever since reading that I do just that! I use my napkins for our everyday meals. I don't use my pretty dishes everyday.Since they are vintage I was concerned about lead. But I do use them. Do I worry about stains? No I don't. We use these pretty white linen napkins even when we eat pizza. And spaghetti! So much nicer ... View Post

Welcome to my new home!
Well here I am moved over to Word Press!Thank you so much to Kristi Linauer from Addicted2decorating for helping me with my move. Some things are different than I am used to but I know I will adjust.I just need to play around with things for a bit. Still learning how to enlarge my photos and add links too! I was asked why I made this move. There are several reasons. But the biggest one for me is that last spring I went to my blog page and it was hijacked by a spammer. This was devastating! At the time I wanted to make a change but it was not the time. This is something that I wanted to do.And felt that I needed to do. I want to thank all of you for following along! All of these photos were taken last summer. Some roses from my garden in my ironstone pitcher. ... View Post
Scented Candles
I love burning scented candles. One of my favorite brands is Linnea lights. Last winter I won a giveaway on Joy's blog Savvy City Farmer .A Linnea lights candle and my favorite magazine Jeanne d'arc living. And I was lucky enough to meet sweet Joy! When I first lit the candle it was a very very soft fragrance. At first I could not smell it much. But when the oils got warmer and warmer you could smell the wonderful aroma of Belgian Linen! This line is now one of my very favorites! Besides the amazing aroma of these candles I also love how they burn down so evenly.Sometimes when you extinguish a candle the wax separates to the sides of the jar. This doesn't do that.I feel like you really get your money's worth. And they last for 60 hours! Don't you just love how these are packaged! My ... View Post
