Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Linen
I have been dying to try Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint.I ordered this awhile back and it finally arrived a few weeks ago. This is not my first time using milk paint.Marian from Miss Mustard Seed shared using milk paint on her blog a year ago. After watching the video about it I knew I had to try it.I used milk paint on THIS table. Not Miss mustard seed's another brand. But I was familiar with using it.I found this table at a thrift store and this is what it looked like before painting it.Cute table but the color did not work for my home. This table is used in my guest powder room.It is a small room and this table is the perfect size.Found this ironstone at a thrift store.I use this to store toilet paper in.I need to fill'er up! Don't you love how chippy and old this looks! What I love about ... View Post
Coffee Burlap Rocking Chair Reveal
Continuing to make changes in my living room.I had an antique rocking chair that did not fit in with my look. The wood was dark and the fabric was green like in 1970's green. And I have some proof of this. Not only the fabric but a surprise I found as I was taking the fabric off. Before I show you the beginning stages let me share with you the after.I took a full shot of the living room so you could see the full impact of just one chair. What a change! I painted that rocking chair Annie Sloan old ochre.I reupholstered it using a burlap coffee bean sack found at farm and fleet store. They were 1.99 per sack.Chalk paint was meant to be used to distress furniture. But I decided not to distress this chair.I have a few pieces already in this room that are distressed and I did not want to over do it in ... Every year the night before Halloween we carve our pumpkins.Having a bit of fun with picmonkey!First we get all the yucky guts out of the pumpkin. Then we all pick a design and go to it.We all wait to see our designs. You see this is a bit of a contest.Tabitha our cat picks out the winner. There are no prizes it is all in good fun!Mr.Cottage was not happy with the turnout of his.In fact he did not want me to post this photo of his pumpkin. But being the good wife that I am I had to share it.I mean what is the harm it's only a pumpkin contest! My daughter did the one in the middle.Hers is a cat she used pumpkin seeds for the teeth! I thought this was a great idea very cleaver!I used a bat design for the eyes and mouth. Now ... View Post
New Changes With A Little Coco
I think I am finally done with my kitchen.I hope you all are not sick of seeing photos of my ever changing kitchen. This should do it for now! There are few things that need to be completed as in the floor under the desk and the trim too.I still have not gotten to that yet.But that will come in time.Even with those few things I thought I would share with you my final kitchen reveal. Do you remember how it looked before I started any of the changes?Well HERE is a reminder of how it looked. I just added the hardware to the kitchen desk and you might also notice that the Island is no longer duck egg blue. You can see that before HERE I did like duck egg blue. But I was thinking a color that was a bit more neutral would be better on my eyes for such a big piece.Funny thing Mr. cottage ... Our Fall Trip to Galena Part 2
While visiting Galena we decided to tour a Mansion we had not visited on our past trips. The Ryan Mansion is also a bed and breakfast. The tour was very informative. Our tour guide gave us some information about the home before the tour began and then went into character as though we stepped back into time. Before I go on I have to share this. When we walked into the home on this particular day there was a bad odor of skunk! I guess a skunk had entered the cellar and fumigated the home. She tried burning a candle but it did not help. So for the first part of the tour it was quite disturbing to smell that odor! Here are some shots from the of the home. So much to see but I am only sharing some of the the highlights. This home is much grander than Grants home. Look at he detail on the ... View Post
