I love scrolling through Pinterest, I am always inspired. Recently again, I was inspired by a vintage door that had torn bit's of wallpaper on it. This shabby vintage door that I saw as my inspiration on Pinterest had bits of torn and tattered vintage wallpaper on it. I can't share it here because of copyright infringement, but if you would like to see it you can visit my Pinterest board HERE. I decided to try and re-create the look of that door, using a vintage door that I have as an architectural piece in my family room. To create my DIY vintage shabby wallpaper door, the first thing I did was paint it. It was already painted pink, but it had a purplish tint to it, I wanted a softer yet warmer pink. I pulled out my Heirloom Traditions paint in Blushing. And painted a coat of ... View Post
Shabby Chic Pink Valentine’s Day
Can you believe Valentine's day is only a week away? Where does the time go? I have to admit I am ready for spring. Last week we had lots of snow dumped on us. Twenty-two inches in some area's. (Scale now Available in the Shop) I could tell you the temperature for today, but I am not going to. Let's just say it's almost not a number. I guess that's why I love rose's in my home. Especially this time of the year. I think I would go crazy if I didn't have these beautiful rose's to brighten my day. (Tote now available in the Shop) I question myself all the time, why do I live here? Well two reasons. One my husband's job is here, and two my daughter is in school. I would never dream of moving her away from her school and friends. We can't just pick up and ... View Post
Easy DIY Framed Chalkboard Wall
Well, I was excited to share a project I was working on and then my camera crashed! My husband took a look at it and may have fixed it? I tried using my daughters Nikon coolpix, but I have no idea how of how to work with it. I am so used to my Sony DSLR, my photos kept coming out grainy using her camera. Hoping to purchase a new camera in the near future. (first photos are from her camera) When you take as many photos as I do, I think it's good to have two cameras. Are you ready? Let's get onto the project I wanted to share with you all today. This easy DIY framed chalkboard wall. About a year ago I found this old chippy window frame. For awhile I used it to display my beautiful boxwood wreath that I purchased from Decor Steals. I can't remember if I shared this but it was ... View Post
DIY Shabby Braided Coasters
I am thrilled and excited to be a part of the Heart and Home blog hop. A big thank you to Pamela From My Front Porch To Yours. I have to admit I am a romantic by heart. Yes you can tell by the way I decorate my home with touches of pink, and yes roses. Today I wanted to share an easy DIY project. These pretty shabby coasters. And yes they have pink and rose's on the fabric. I can't believe the price of coasters. They can be very expensive. These are super easy to make and very cheap! They make a great gift too! You know how I am always finding pretty fabrics at the thrift store. Usually bed sheets and bed skirts. Or a pretty curtain panel. This is a Rachel Ashwell Curtain valance from her simply Shabby Chic line. I am also using a pink sheet from that same ... View Post
DIY Chippy Patina
Last week while I was pinning over on pinterest, I found a perfectly shabby chippy door. This old chippy door was being used as pantry door. Well, you know me and chippy paint. At that second , I had a light bulb moment. (Okay so as much as I would like to share my inspiration photo I can't. Did you know that you can be sued using someone's photo on your site without the original photographer's permission, even if it's from pinterest.) So......where do I begin. Here is how I stared my DIY chippy patina project. This was quite a process. As always I was experimenting and trying to figure out how to make my newer door get that chippy patina that I love, and look authentically old. My inspiration was my mantle that I created last year. You can view that HERE. Let's take a ... View Post

Now for some exciting news. Recently my home was featured in Vintage Style magazine. It was a HUGE honor to have my home featured. A dream come true! But never in my wildest dreams did I think that possibly, my photos that I took would be featured in a magazine. Several months ago I was contacted by Stampington to write an article for their magazine Artful Blogging. I was thrilled to have been ... View Post
