Yes I am a vintage gal and being so I love surrounding my self with vintage items, and often repurposing vintage treasures to use in other ways and not as they were intended. Wow that sort of makes me sound like a rebel, well I guess I am sort of. I don't follow rules when I decorate,I do what I like and surround myself with things I love. This holds true for pieces I use everyday, but I put a little spin on it. This soda bottle is not vintage, but looks vintage ,I found it at World market. I bought many of these for my daughters graduation party back in June. I love the graphics on this one, thinking of using these as vases for my flowers, another idea came to me. Using it for my dish soap. I just added on of those olive oil spouts, you can find these at just about any store. Look in ... View Post
I Love Vintage Picnic Baskets
I love vintage picnic baskets, and I also love using them. They are useful for so many things, and they are also very pretty stacked up on top of each other. But I must admit I love using these vintage picnic baskets as they were meant to be used. Not necessarily for a picnic,I love the outdoors but I am not an outdoorsy kind of gal. If you know me you know I would never in a million years want to camp, not even glamping. But we do take day trips in the summer and we always bring along snacks and things for the road. I love pulling my baskets out for these trips, there is something about using a vintage picnic basket that makes our adventure more exciting! We still bring a cooler to keep refrigerated items cold, but this basket stores our snacks, plates, utensils and napkins. Yes I ... View Post
Vintage Jewelry Stand
I would love to sit here and tell you all very proudly that I made this vintage Jewelry stand, but the truth is I did not. I found it months ago right after I finished my daughters bathroom make over, you can read more about that HERE. But I was busy and just never got around to sharing this. I found this while out shopping,it is so simple I could have just made this myself, but I did not have the pieces to do it and the price was right so I bought it. But I wanted to share it with you all because it will inspire you to look for fun pieces when you are out treasure hunting. If you are like me besides looking for pretty pieces when I am treasure hunting,I always dig through the tools, and houseware things. Sometimes you will find cool vintage drawer pulls, old paint brushes,or a vintage ... View Post
My Studio
My studio has been changed a few times, and it may be changing once again. I won't dare show you what it looks like today, because it is a creative space and I have a little mess from my last project I need to straighten up. I also unfortunately spilled milk paint on my carpet, and it won't come out. Trying to figure out what to do,but here are some photos of my last room makeover. Joining Karen at My Desert Cottage Where Bloggers Create. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That is the other door my friend Kris from Junk Chic Cottage gave me! I originally had it in my daughters room. We were thinking of making a chalkboard door out of it. But it never happened......and I am glad it didn't! It makes a perfect backdrop for my mannequin. She is a little revealing....I ... View Post
Shopping For Souvenirs
I love shopping for souvenirs when I am vacationing, bring home something to remember our special trip. I found many souvenirs this past trip like perfume,a few Vera Bradley bags, and a few music cd's of the music they played at our resort. While I was out shopping at our resort I stumbled on a lovely print they had of the Grand Floridian. As soon as I saw it I knew just where I wanted to put it,but I was not sure how I wanted to frame it. Of course I did not want a brand new frame,I wanted it to look old. Still I had no idea of what to do so I started looking in my studio for frames I had. Nothing was really speaking to me,until I stumbled in a few chippy scrap pieces I had. Yes this was a light bulb moment! This won't be a tutorial because I was making this up as I went ... View Post
The Grand Floridian
I shared a little about our Disney trip and also a few tips HERE,today I wanted to share our visit to The Grand Floridian resort and spa. We did a split stay five days at the French Quarter and six days at the Grand Floridian. When you do this they will take your luggage and bring it to the resort for you, nothing is complicated you can still enjoy your vacation. Disney was offering a 35% off some of the resorts, because of this offer we decided to jump on it and stay at the Grand Floridian as part of our visit. This offer was good until the end of February yes that is how far in advance you need to start booking your trip. This offer was not available for our favorite resort the French Quarter, but was available for most of them. Since we were celebrating our silver anniversary we ... View Post
