My daughters bathroom makeover is not too shabby. Well is it a bit shabby chic romantic,I am thrilled that my daughter loves pink as much as I do. Which at her age is probably a rarity. Let's look at what it looked like before I started. Yes here I go again ready to get started and almost forgetting to take a before shot. Her bathroom was painted a light green, and she had those builder grade lights, that's why the step ladder was there.I was getting ready to take those down. This is just a mini makeover, replacing the floors was not an option. As I said my daughter still loves pink as much as I do and she wanted a shabby romantic look in her bathroom. Are you ready for the reveal? This is a narrow bathroom so it's hard to get a full shot of the room all at once. I painted her ... View Post
Where To Begin
I am trying to think of where to begin with this post. Have you ever had a day that starts out bad and progressively gets worse? That is the day I had today,I will spare you all the details. Yesterday I shared my French Sink,I loved how it looked and it seemed to be very sturdy on that heavy door. Did you notice I said looked great, well we had a windy day here. While I was in the house cleaning I heard a huge crash sound. That door came crashing down with the planter, dirt everywhere. But that's not the worst part, the worst part is that it made a hole in the screen on our new screened porch. I am just sick over it. Its a small hole, but the fact that it's a new room just has me sick. So on Mother's day when I should be relaxing I will be taking a trip to the company who installed ... View Post
French Enamel Sink
Yes it was love at first sight when I spotted this vintage French enamel sink. Something about the chippy rusty patina....made me fall for this piece. A soon as I spotted it I knew it would work perfectly on my side porch. After shooting photos of my Screened porch,I knew something was missing on my side porch. Don't you love it when you find the perfect piece! I really don't like making holes on the outside of my house unless it is necessary. I had to think of what I could attach this too. Then a ah-ha moment hit me. What about that chippy cool door with that vintage knob. It surely would be sturdy enough for this heavy sink. Since this chippy door was free I am not concerned about it getting ruined. But I do love the chippy patina so I will be adding a sealer on this too ... View Post
Screened In Porch
Well today is the day I finally reveal our screened in porch. This has been a dream of ours for many, many years. When we moved here almost 8 years ago I told my husband if we can't do a screened in porch then I don't want to do a patio. I think patios are great, but I never really enjoy eating outdoors with bugs especially bee's and mosquitoes. So last fall my husband and I contacted several companies and started the process of our dream. You can read the beginning stages HERE. This was our sad little yard last fall, and that stoop was our patio. I did the best I could with a garden, but knowing we would eventually build our dream I went a little easy and simple for a garden. The process was pretty fast, and it was agonizing looking at this room all winter knowing we had to wait to ... View Post
Dyeing Fabric With Paint
So I had an idea.... dyeing fabric with paint...yeah what would happen if I used Vintage Market And Design paint to dye some fabric. I mean really what could go wrong? I love trying different techniques and I am quite a risk taker. And since this company shares that you can use VMD paint on fabric why not try using it to dye fabric? A few weeks ago I came across a pair of these pillow covers. I wanted to dye these pink, but I only had Porcelain which is a very pale pink. I also had Anita's all purpose acrylic paint in vivid pink...perfect....let's mix the two in water and see what happens. I grabbed a reusable container that I was storing leftovers, but will now only be used for crafting. I did not measure,I just poured about a silver dollar amount of Vintage Market and Design ... Window Box Roses
Remember I told you about a window box I found a few days ago treasure hunting? Today I added a fresh coat of paint. When I saw this I pictured this window box filled with roses of course. First I cleaned it up the best I could, some of this old dirt did not want to come off. This window box is sitting on a bench I also painted today, more on that later. I am having lots of fun trying different Vintage Market And Design paint colors. This time I wanted to try New Leaf mixed with a little Dove. I did not want this window box totally covered because of course I wanted a distressed look. After painting and sanding it I gave it a coat of Dark Umber wax. Love using that wax, just make sure to mix it well before using it because the color settles to the bottom after it is mixed with ... View Post
