I cannot begin to express to you all how much fun it was teaching the Vintage Market and Design paint workshop. Janet did an amazing job setting everything up. Let's first take a look around at her set up and paint display. Everyone received a sway bag with a paint brush, gloves, sanding block,a painting guide, and a pen and notebook for taking notes, and a bottle of water. Janet also set up coffee station at the check out table and had a few tasty treats. As you can see she has some beautiful pieces that said paint me,that are for sale in her shop to take home and paint too. Love her display for her paints, and brushes. Janet set up a vintage laundry cart with vintage frames for everyone to paint. Before the class started Janet shared a little information about Vintage ... View Post
Busy Time Of The Year
This time of the year can be very busy for me and this year is no exception. It's hard to believe but my baby will be graduating from 8th grade in May. We are planning on celebrating with a party for her so I have lots to do inside and out. Oh I know you are probably thinking what do you need to do. Well I like to change things around and freshen things up a bit this time of the year. I also need to finish a few projects, and my yard it is quite a mess from the construction. Recently while I was out treasure hunting for the shop I found a beautiful bedspread. I love the soft muted colors and thought it would work perfectly in our bedroom. It's a full size spread and I have a king size bed,but that's okay,it works perfectly with the beautiful bedspread that Ticking and Toile made ... View Post
Oval Shaped Frames
I don't know if I have ever shared this with you but I have a think for oval shaped frames. It does not matter if it is mirror or a picture frame,I am drawn to the soft look of an oval shaped frame. I came across this frame very recently. For sometime I have been wanting to add just a touch of pink to my chalkboard wall in my kitchen. At first I was thinking of making a wreath to add around my Heifer head. But when I saw this I decided this would work perfectly too. I love the details on this frame but not the gold. I am not big on the color gold,I do have a little gold in my home, but I don't like to go overboard with it . It's a little too fancy for my home. I am just using the paint I already had, so I pulled out Annie Sloan Antoinette. It is a little more of a purple color ... View Post
Gathering Collections
When I am gathering collections around my house , I try to keep them together if possible. It really depends of how large your collection is. For instance my white dish and white ironstone collection can't all be displayed in one spot because I have many pieces. It would look quite messy if I had this all displayed together. But my sea glass bottles look lovely all displayed together. My dining room table is always changing with a new centerpiece. I decided to add my bottles to the center on top of this old mirror I found. I love the reflection on the bottles and those roses too. Different colors, shapes and sizes but they all work perfectly together. It really makes more of a statement when you place your collections together instead of placing them all around a room. Not ... An Old Farmhouse Tote Gets A New Look
I found this old farmhouse tote a few years ago and I have enjoyed using it. But I decided it needed a little refresh on the original color,it was looking a little dingy. I decided to pull out one of my favorite milk paint colors Miss Mustard seeds Eulalie sky. I just painted this two coats of Eulalie and then added Miss Mustard Seeds white wax on top. Love how that white wax brings out all the imperfections. This is an old tote but with a little paint and sanding it looks truly worn. And the color is so much nicer now too. I don't like pieces to look perfect. Imperfection is perfection to me. But sometimes a piece can get dingy dirty and it needs a little paint refresh to bring out the cool vintage qualities. Love this old hanger handle. I love using these totes in ... View Post
A Little Paint Can Do Wonders
I said this before and I will say it again, you can transform just about anything with a little paint. Don't pass up a piece because of how it looks, stand back and think about how you can improve it with just a little paint. I found a pair of very ugly cherub statue planters. I love the sweet cherubs the shells and the design, but the added copper gold paint finish had to go. Yes this has many chips also, but I don't care,I love pieces that are imperfect. I took these home and cleaned them up a bit and started to paint. Using what I had already at home I used my homemade plaster paint in a pure white color. See how simple is this! Just a coat of paint,I could antique this but sometimes I love the simplicity too. Not everything needs to be antiqued. Yes I have a pair. I am ... View Post
