I must admit I really don't change my home much for the seasons,oh I may tweak it a bit but things pretty much stay the same. Being a part of The Scoops mega Spring Linky party had me thinking about doing a spring craft. I wanted to use things I already had on hand. So I looked around in my studio to see what I could find. I always keep dried roses for craft projects and I had this oval frame. With this I decided to make a wreath, the frame was already painted white. I started breaking off the rose blooms,do this gently because they are very fragile. Then I grabbed my hot glue gun and started to glue the dried roses all around the frame. I was not worried about covering every inch of the frame. Just keep working around and adding your roses as you go along. I love the ... View Post
A Perfectly Rusty Scale
I found this perfectly rusty scale when I was visiting my friends home the other day. I am sure you spotted it in this photo. The old rusty scale with chippy paint was pure perfection in all of it's imperfections. I was going to keep this scale for myself but it will be listed in my shop. I know I will regret selling this cool piece, but when you are a shop owner you can't keep all of the cool finds. And I still have my scale in my kitchen that I am not ready to part with. I really hope this scale sells fast so I don't change my mind. That bowl is not a part of the original scale but Michelle thought it worked perfectly with this piece and I agree. My favorite pink roses look amazing on this rusty old scale. If I were to keep this I would be adding a white pitcher filled ... View Post
Shabby Chic Inspiration Tour Of A Studio
Last week I was visiting a friend from whom I purchase many chippy finds from. She invited me over to show me a mantle I might be interested in. And while I was there she let me into her office/studio. My jaw dropped to the floor. You will see why I shop Michelle's booth so often. This is Michelle's studio/office. Isn't that pink cabinet amazing! This was at the antique shop she sells her beautiful treasures, but some how I missed this. But I have to agree it looks amazing just where it is. It's a wonderful place to store beautiful treasures and collections. Some of them will find a new home and some are meant to stay here. I am sure you can see a little bit of my style in this room. Yes Michelle has amazing style and taste. She has a wonderful eye for finding the chippy ... View Post
Tricycle And Linen
I found this tote many months ago and enjoyed the natural patina, but after using a custom mix of Miss Mustard Seeds milk paint in Tricycle and Linen I knew this would look amazing on this sweet tote. Pink seems to be the color lately, although I will be painting some pieces that are not pink. It's interesting how colors can change depending on the surface you paint, and the custom mix you make with it. Yes this is the same paint combination I used on my last tote. I love the rustic worn look of this piece. Adding ball jars filled with flowers is one of my favorite uses for these totes. I also like to use these to keep extra cloth napkins and utensils. This tote will be making an appearance in the shop soon! ********************************************** Today I am ... View Post
Adding Style To A Serving Tray
I found this tray months ago and fell for the the shabby white paint job. It's an old weathered tray that was painted the perfect shade of white. But it was missing something,I knew if I brought it home an idea would come to me that could give this a little more personality. I am always looking for fabrics, even scraps when I am out treasure hunting and one day I came across this gorgeous piece. It had a vintage look to it,sort of reminded me of vintage wall paper. Not really thinking that I was going to use this with the tray, but I knew I would find a purpose for it. Then one day as I was cleaning out my studio I placed this piece of fabric on the tray and the idea came to me to pair these pieces together. I cut the fabric piece to fit inside this tray, then decopauged this to ... View Post
Pink Ice Cream Bucket
Today was another busy day of shipping orders,I am very thankful. But I wanted to share something I have been working on. I came across another vintage ice cream bucket that needed a little lift. It was just stained no paint,so I added a coat mixing Miss Mustard seeds milk pain in Tricycle and Linen. Then I added a coat of Anne Sloan Old Orchre on top. I never know what I am going to do when I start painting something. It is the artist in me,I love experimenting with colors, textures and mediums. I really was not sure which to try first so I started with milk paint knowing it would chip. After the first coat it did,but I was not happy with the way it looked with just one color,so I added chalk paint on top. Distressed it a bit and added wax. I love the results. On this ... View Post
