Hearts At Home Tour
I am thrilled to be a part of hearts at home tour today. When I was little I dreamed about what it would be like to have my own home and how I would decorate it. Really I did. I knew that I would add vintage elements to my home,it's something I have always liked. I think I got the vintage bug when I was a child going to garage sales with my Grandparents. Spending money on very little, and finding one of a kind pieces. My home really tells a story of who I am what I truly love. I have said this before and I will say it again,I love the imperfect. Things that have a past, and tell a story. Those are the treasures to me. And it is what makes my home ......a home. I want my family and guests to feel comfortable. Never worrying about messing up a sofa filled with ... View Post
French Country Dish Drying Rack
Staying indoors has me busy with projects, organizing and cleaning is at the top.And when I came across this French Country dish drying rack I knew it would look perfect in my kitchen and help keep my dishes a bit more organized. Yes I am addicted to dishes, but I have sorted through much of my collection keeping only what I truly love. I use my white dishes everyday, and I needed a little more room for larger bowls. This looks great in my kitchen,I love having my soup bowls, cereal bowls and dinner dishes close at hand. I found this French Country dish drying rack while shopping on line at The Burlington Coat factory. This was a very thrifty price at 7.99. This also came with a utensil basket, but I decided not to use this yet. That marble board was on my kitchen island, but I think ... View Post
Valentine Showcase
Oh my goodness this cold weather has frozen my brain,so happy to be a part of All things home Valentine Showcase. Being stuck in my home because of the extreme temperatures has me limited to what I could make for Valentines day. So I am being very resourceful and using what I already have. Well you know I love roses and what's more romantic and says Valentines day like roses. My roses are starting to dry out,and I actually still like to display them dried. But I also like saving them for projects. All you need to make this Valentine heart wreath is a bunch of dried roses, just the tops, and some thin wire. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Get a piece of wire and figure out how big you would like your heart shape to be. Don't make it too big it may not lay right and might ... View Post
Why You Should Never Use A Flash
I bet you have heard photographers tell you why you should never use a flash on your camera. And today I am going to share some examples of why you should, in my opinion never use a flash. When I started my blog I had no idea how important my photography skills would be. I was new at taking photos and yes I did use a flash. Well I did take photos of my daughter but really other than that I never took photos. My husband was the official photographer in the family before I started my blog. I wondered why photos on other sites were always so beautiful and mine....well they were pretty bad. You don't need a fancy camera to take pretty photos. I have seen many photos taken with a regular camera and even a camera phone. Here is an example of a photo I took using a flash. It's not ... View Post
Lavender Scented Cleaning Spray
How does a lavender scented cleaning spray sound? About six years ago I decided I wanted a natural product to clean with. Something made using ingredients that are safe enough to eat. How many cleaning products even green products are so safe you can actually eat them? I did lots of searches and discovered the world of vinegar. This is such as simple and easy homemade cleaning spray. I found my spray bottle at walmart in there garden center. You will need: 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar 1/2 cup of water And to make it smell pretty 12-24 drops of essential oil. This will make 8 ounces. If you want more than just double up the ingredients. I buy my essential oils at the health food store, and buy food grade quality. So add all the ingredients in a spray bottle and that is ...
