My Friends have had this scale hanging in there booth for sometime now.I have looked at it many times but walked away. After working this weekend I could no longer walk away!I knew I would have the perfect spot for it and this would also be fun to play around with.I hung this sweet old dairy farm scale right above my sink.I just hooked it onto my ladder.I found some sweet old linen I placed inside and draped it over a bit. These roses are from our market.I love the creamy color and a bit of green they have on the tips.A perfect fall rose!I am planning on adding my hydrangeas and some white gourds to this scale. But I had to take some photos of these roses in this basket! Aren't they gorgeous!! I am off to our farmers market today to pick up more pumpkins and white gourds.I need to do some ... View Post
Adding an Old Door
Well I am sure you know how much I love old doors.I think I have mentioned this a few times. And shared my favorite doors HERE and HERE. I moved my farmhouse door to my kitchen and since then have not been happy with the way it left a bare spot in my family room corner.I have tried different things. But I really loved that door there. It added height and interest. On Friday it was a rainy day but I did get to a few garage sales. I scored!!! I found an old door! I know an old yellow door nothing special. It was not even chippy. But I really loved the hardware and I knew I could make it special. Here it is the after. I painted this with a coat of Annie Sloan duck egg blue and a coat of old white.I sanded it down a bit to show the duck egg blue and a little bit of the yellow.I found that old etched ... View Post
Create A Faux Patina Using Chalk And Milk Paint
Create A Faux Patina Using Chalk And Milk Paint I really love the layered look of paint. I'm sure that you've stumbled onto those pieces of furniture at a flea market that show the wear of time. It's chippy, crackled and perfectly worn. I decided to experiment with my mantle and see if I could recreate a faux patina using chalk and milk paint. I know architecturally it does not look old . But with a little paint I thought I could give it an aged, distressed patina. So what inspired me to do this? Well it wasn't just the old chippy, distressed pieces that I love it was also something I saw in a movie. Do you ever really look at movie sets? I can't remember the movie now, but I was watching a movie and noticed the mantel was old and chippy looking but the mantel itself didn't look old. I ... View Post

Farm House White Shabby Pink
In between painting and other projects I decided to change things around a bit.As I mentioned before I usually do not use pink much in my decor.I do LOVE the color. But I use it sparingly as an accent.I found this sweet old chair and I could not resist.I have some red in my kitchen so I think this pink will work.It has a little bit of green too.It will go perfectly with something I am working on in the kitchen.Don't you just LOVE all that chippy paint! Hydrangea's are from my garden. They are starting to turn colors. And they go perfectly with this chair.Found this beautifully tarnished tray too.I moved my French Bottle rack to my island so I decided to put this rusty white rack on my old farmhouse table. Love all the rust and chippy paint.I love the shape too.Lots of scrolls, crazing and ... View Post
