When walking into my home I have a small entry space and a large wall.At one time I thought I would put a bench there and maybe a mirror. But having such a small space with a door I did not think a bench would work.I found this piece of furniture a few years ago at a resale shop.I think it fits perfectly in this tight space. There is still plenty of room for my door to open.My front door is just to the right of the photo....but not seen.I change this often. This time I decided to add a window in front and a few other things too.I love layering pieces together. But I could not stop here.I found this old painting at a thrift store. I love the scene and it looks like a window too.So why not put it by my window.I love the look of art behind glass. And the wear and tear chippy paint is one of my ... View Post
Coldplay Mylo Xylo and Key West
The past few days have been a whirlwind. On Wednesday we all saw Coldplay at the United Center Chicago. My Daughter made her shirt using iron on transfer letters. The silver glitter letters are hard to see here. She splatter painted the rest. This concert was amazing.I have been to many concerts and this one really blew me away.Everyone received a wrist band that lit up during the show.It was beautiful a sea of twinkling lights. Then confetti came down from the ceiling several times with inflatable balloons that looked like globes. When they popped more confetti streamed out. They played all of our favorites! At one point the band was actually in a seated section playing not far from us!Those lucky fans that had far seats were now in the front row!!!!My daughter took photos with her ipad. They are ... Copy Cat.. Ice…Ice…Baby
I have been searching for an old wood ice cream machine ever since I spotted one on Becky's blog Buckets of Burlap .I also spotted one on Rusty Hinge .I love that old Handy freeze ice cream bucket.I have found a few.But I was not willing to shell out lots of money for one.So what's a vintage loving girl like me to do???Well find an old one and make it special yourself!!!Here it is.This started out looking like this. Not my style. But the price was right! I would love to have an authentic chippy old one.But this will do.It is old.But I needed to make it more my style.I had some left over paint from another project.I did not create any chalk paint. It is just regular old flat latex paint. After painting it I sanded it down. This was already rusty so the paint brought it out even more! Not Letting Go
This is such a busy time of the summer for us.My daughter starts school next week.I can't believe that! This week more family time and a concert are planned.Lots of school shopping to do too. Today I wanted to share my mantle. It normally looks like a black hole.In the summer I like to keep it covered.I painted this head/foot board and brought it to my booth.I had second thoughts and brought it home to place in front of my fireplace.I painted this using a few different blues to give it a French blue color that I wanted.I added patina from Annie sloan dark wax.Pages from a vintage French book adorn the front of this. I am still enjoying the colors of summer.I love these blue ball jars.I am going to enjoy placing my white hydrangeas on here too. I love the simple look of my ... View Post
Dog Days of Summer
It is finally here.We are at the homestretch of our summer break. My daughter heads back to school on August 16th.Where has the summer gone? I am in the middle of a project. But today it is all about us.Spending our last summer vacation time together.Today we are going to our last garage sales together. This will be the last Friday for that. And maybe some antique shops too.I asked my daughter what she wanted to do and that is what she requested. So for today no projects.I have nothing to share as far as that. But yesterday I was surprise with these flowers from Mr. Cottage. And also some wonderful handmade soap that I won from a giveaway onWhimsical Perspective Love these flowers. So pretty and bright. And this wonderful soap and lotion. The soap and lotion have my favorite fragrance Lavender.I ... Decorating With Ladders
I have been searching for a ladder for my kitchen. Not to display fabric on.But to place on top of my two cabinets.Oh I love using them for displaying fabric. But I already have two of those.Finding a ladder was not easy.I needed the right size. And I finally found one. Love how this joins my two cabinets together.Ignore the inner cabinets.I still have not finished that.I will when my daughter goes back to school. See that old milk cooler/tin? I added these stick on letters and numbers.Sanded them down and added some antiquing. My light fixture was originally a brass fixture with glass inserts.I took all the glass off spray painted it and added a little bling.Cost was 10.00.I had to shorten it a bit too. To make the holders look like candles I added some hot glue drips and ... View Post
