I've shared that were planning on putting our house on the market in the next couple of years, I wanted to talk about how to sell a home by owner. I'm slowly changing things in my home as I prepare to sell it, you start seeing more and more of these changes. One of the changes is not using pink in my home. I have nothing against hiring a realtor, I have family that are in the biz. For us personally, we need all of the profits for our sale to put towards our ... View Post
Guest Post Podcast My Repurposed Life
I am thrilled to announce that I was asked to be a guest on Gail from My Repurposed Life Podcast. We met several weeks ago at the Heirloom Traditions seminar. We've chatted back and fourth over the past year or so, but never met. That's how it is in the world of blogging. We meet many people virtually, but not always in person, unless we're lucky. Gail and I talked a bit at the seminar and shortly after we returned she mentioned that she was doing podcasts and asked if anyone would like to be featured. I jumped at the chance because I knew it would be fun chatting with Gail. If you don't know who Gail is or her site, which I would be shocked to know, Gail's blog shares lots of DIY projects. She takes the fear out of power tools. Seriously, she inspires me to go for it! Now, I know ... View Post
Creating Patina Using Tarnished Silver
Creating Patina Using Tarnished Silver Yesterday I shared my desk that I repurposed into two side tables, you can read about that HERE. This is part 2, I'm sharing how easy it was creating patina using tarnished silver. (This post contains affiliate links, please read disclosure policy) First let me explain what I needed to do to prep these tables. These table tops had a combination of wallpaper and decoupage. I started scraping the table tops using a scraper. Some of this came off easily and some of it was a little harder to take off. I decided to add fabric softener to the tops of the tables, let it sit for 5 minutes, then I started scraping again. This worked perfectly and the residue that was left from the wall paper peeled right off. Sorry I don't have photos, I should have ... View Post
Repurpose A Desk Into Two Side Tables
Repurpose A Desk Into Two Side Tables I've been searching for about a year for the perfect old vanity table that I could repurpose into two side tables for our bedroom. I got this idea while shopping at one of our favorite shabby shops in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. I actually asked to purchase the tables, but they're not for sale. Which is probably a good thing, because I'm cheap and I'm sure they would be expensive. A month ago, while I was preparing for my vintage sale, as my daughter and I were taking things out to the garage for set up, I had a ah-ha moment! We were carrying an old desk out that I no longer used, and while carrying it I noticed the two ends of the desk looked like two side tables. Similar to the vanity that I had been seeking. Seriously, how did I not think ... View Post
No Sew Window Treatment Ideas
No Sew Window Treatment Making a curtain from a vintage sheet was the first thing that came to my mind when I spotted this cool vintage sheet. I fell for the soft faded colors, that are just perfect for my farmhouse kitchen. I bet you can't tell that my window treatment is actually a bed sheet. My patio door has been a challenge when it came to adding a window treatment. I needed some privacy, but I didn't want to add blinds to this door. This bed sheet was the perfect solution. (This post contains affiliate links, please see disclosure policy) As you know or maybe you don't know, that I don't sew. Not because I can't sew, but I don't have a sewing machine yet. I know, I know, I need to get a sewing machine! I know how easy it would be to sew easy things like curtains and ... View Post
Things To Do In Kentucky On Your Visit
Things To Do In Kentucky Before I talk about things to do in Kentucky, I wanted to share why I was in Kentucky. A few weekends ago I attended a Heirloom Traditions Deminar in Kentucky, and it as so much fun! Paula Blankenship had asked me to share a demonstration. This was one of the first times I've ever done something like that. I was a little nervous, but managed to do it. If you had told me years ago that I would be speaking in front of a group of people I would have laughed in your face. I wasn't always outgoing. When I was a child I was very shy in group settings. Not so much with people, but I hated getting up in front of my peers, that was scary! I'm sure you remember those days of getting up in front of the class to speak. That was awful! Attending this deminar meant that I ... View Post
