Today I am joining more of my blogging friends in the Home For The Holidays Tour. I'll be sharing a little more of my home today, and simple vignette Christmas decorating ideas. This year I've decided to do things much simpler than I have in the past. The older I get the lazier I am with decorating my home for the holidays. Yes, this is the lazy girls guide to decorating your home for the holidays. WOW, that's very wordy isn't it. Yesterday I shared my mantle vignette, I love keeping things simple, you can read about that HERE. See that? This lazy girls new favorite word is simple, keep it simple. And cheap..... And easy! I'm almost embarrassed to tell you all just how lazy I have been this year with my holiday decor. Let's take a look at the photo below. See this old ... View Post
How To Decorate A Mantel For Christmas
I really feel that you don't have to go overboard decorating for the holidays. Let me show you how to decorate a mantel for Christmas, and keep it simple. First let me show you what I did with mine, then at the end of this post, I'll give you some tips. I'm slowly becoming a minimalist, although I still have a long way to go. My mantel depth is quite small, so I really can't over do it anyway. This year I decided not to change much on my mantel. I still really love the look of my layered mirrors, so I just added a few things to decorate it for Christmas. Since this is a working fireplace, I don't like too much hanging from it either. That gate in front of my fireplace is very heavy, but I love how it adds a vintage touch when it's not on. I don't always hang our stockings from ... View Post
Outdoor Decorating Ideas For Christmas
I'm often asked about outdoor decorating ideas for Christmas. I don't like going overboard on decorating my home inside or outside. I'm thrilled to be joining several of my blogging friends on our Welcome Home Tour today. It's all about welcoming our guests, or making our home look welcoming before you even step in our home. Have you driven around and notice that some homes really stand out from others because they look so welcoming? And it's not because they've gone overboard with decorating, it's usually the opposite. As with the inside of my home, I love simplicity on the outside of our home too. I don't go crazy with blinking lights, and blowup decorations. And unlike the inside of my home, on the outside I love a more traditional look. I shot these photos a week ago when we ... View Post
Holiday Decorating Ideas
It's hard to believe, but in January this blog will turn four! It's been fun looking back to where I started, especially when it comes to decorating my home. I've shared lots of holiday decorating ideas over the past almost four years. And wow has my home changed! I've always had my home decorated with vintage style, but I've changed from farmhouse, to more of a shabby romantic look. That photo above was taken two years ago, as was this photo below. I worked at marrying these two styles together, and it worked perfectly. I still love the farmhouse look, but I have fallen hard for soft pastel colors! So today I thought I would share my home tours from a few years ago, and give you a few tips on Holiday Decorating Ideas. You'll see that even then, I was using very little to ... View Post
Easy To Make Ornaments
I've been challenging myself lately to think outside of the box and create. This is a very simple easy to make ornaments project. Yeah, I am all about easy and also cheap! I found clear ornaments at Hobby Lobby a month ago. Oh, before I share this project, I have to tell you a story first about this trip. I shared it on Facebook, but I wanted to share it here as well. So, I went in to Hobby Lobby to purchase a few things, and as I was paying, well the total seemed off to me. But I was in a hurry, and didn't have time to deal with it. When I got home that afternoon, I looked at my receipt and sure enough the total was all wrong! Not because I was over charged, but way undercharged! After a week, I returned to the store to let them know that they undercharged me by $10.00! The ... View Post
