Adding Fall Decorations To Your Home You don't have to break the bank adding fall decorations to your home. And you will see that most of my fall decorations are from the great outdoors, and not from a craft store. I have nothing against craft stores, but if you're on a tight budget it can be expensive. When it comes to decorating for the holidays I keep it pretty simple. I don 't like clutter everywhere. My fall decorations will be kept out until the end of November. So I don't like putting Halloween decor up. And in my home we're out of that phase now that my daughter is grown. Thank goodness, because I was tired of that look too! As you can see I am keeping it pretty simple. I love using real pumpkins and heirloom varieties are my favorite! Simple little vignettes around my ... View Post
How To Make A Non Seasonal Wreath
Today I wanted to share how easy it is to make a wreath, and it will cost you zero dollars. Are you with me on this? Can I get an Amen? As you may already know I am pretty cheap frugal, and I try to save money whenever I can. So going out and buying craft materials for projects is not something I do often at all. I wanted to show you two different wreath ideas. These were both made using what I already have. Let's talk about this one first. Don't you just love this. It has a soft romantic shabby look and I love it! First you need a wreath shape, for this one I used a picture frame. And it doesn't need to be round, it can be oval as this one is or square or even rectangle. I had already used this frame to make a wreath using dried roses, but it was getting faded and ... Can we please just skip over winter to spring ;-) Well, that's not going to happen. And since I will be spending more time indoors, I start looking around to make changes. And guess what, we are starting in the family room first. A year ago, around this time of the year, I said I would never. I guess I should never say the word never. Well, guess what? I'm changing my mind. I know you thinking, never what? Please get to the point! Okay, so a year ago I said I would never paint this piece. I am changing my mind, and I will be painting and transforming this piece! The thought of painting this piece was heavily on ... View Post

Practice Makes Perfect A Faux Marble Table
This isn't going to be a reveal post, but I wanted to share one of the projects I will be working on soon. I have many projects that I need to start working on , but I am nearing the end of writing my book. I will tell you that writing a book is so much harder than I thought it would be. Anyway, I decided to experiment with one of my ideas on a smaller scale. If you are trying a new technique, but you are afraid to go for it, I always advise to practice on something first. I love the look of marble, and have been wanted to experiment using a faux technique. I found this table several months ago. Not knowing what I was going to do with it when I found it. And let me tell you , this table has been painted several times already. I started a few projects on it, and I hated the ... View Post
