Before I show you what's new in the shop, I am going to share something a little embarrassing. Okay, so I am always honest about things I share, including my home. I have mentioned this time and again that my home is never perfect. I mean really, who do you know lives in a perfectly clean and tidy home all the time. No one! Photos on my blog, as well as in magazine's are staged. That's the truth! Here are a few photos I am sharing of my studio. This is called reality :-) This is actually clean, I mean it's been worse...a lot worse! That's a new table I found. I was thinking of painting it, but I am not sure. It's going to get all messy using it for projects, so I have not decided whether I will paint it or not. Here is a photo of the same room as above, but you can see ... View Post
Simple 20 Minute Craft
I bet you noticed that my photos are not showing up as a featured image. Oh the life of a blogger. Honestly sometimes I feel like I spend more time researching how to fix things rather than spending time creating. ****Update, since writing this post, it's now fixed :-) **** I don't have the patience or ability to sit in front of my computer trying to figure out why something is not working. But I am glad that there are people that like to do that. I would much rather be creating, something....... Okay, I can't sit here and tell you that I am a big crafty person, because I'm not. I like doing crafts, but only when the moment inspires me. That's how I roll. And when the moment strikes, I go into my studio and look around for inspiration. I have lots of inspiration in my ... Washing A Vintage Feather Comforter
I love blankets, there I said it! Why is it that I can never seem to pass one up? Recently while treasure hunting, I found this beautiful vintage feather comforter. Never washing a vintage feather comforter before, I still could not pass it up! I was hoping it would be big enough for my bed, but sigh, it's not. Yes it's large, but not large enough for a king size bed. My daughter is the lucky recipient of this wonderful cozy feather comforter. But before putting this on her bed I needed to wash it. I noticed it had a few area's that needed to be repaired. I took out my needle and thread to repair those small holes. There were only a few of them. Next it was time to wash this. **Please note if your feather comforter says dry clean only, make sure that's what you do!** This ... View Post
Vintage Style Magazine
Way before I started blogging and way before there were any blogs I had a dream. Since I was a little girl I loved to decorate. I would move my furniture around in my room, all the time! My room was my own space that I could decorate and make it my very special place. Being a kid I did not have money to spend, well not much anyway. Just a little spending money that I would save up. I have memories of going to garage sales and flea markets with my Grandparents. For just a little spending money I was able to buy treasures. I guess that's where I got the bug for thrift shopping and vintage treasures. Fast forward to my early years of marriage. Decorating my first home. Back then inspiration came from magazines. I could not wait to see the newest issue of Romantic Homes Magazine ... View Post
Distressing With Tinted Wax
An easy way to age a piece of furniture is distressing it with tinted wax. (Tinted wax is furniture wax that has been tinted with paint.) Most chalk paint companies are making tinted wax. But it's easy to make your own tinted wax, using chalk paint. Using custom tinted wax makes your each piece unique and custom. I found this vintage sewing machine drawer many months ago. I love the patina on this piece as it was, but it's also nothing special either. These drawers are so fun! These old drawers can be used on a table with flowers, or hung on a wall as a shelf. Distressing with tinted wax is very easy, let me show you how easy it is. I took out my Heirloom Traditions paint in Aqueduct, and my container of wax. I am using Miss Mustard Seeds clear furniture wax because that's ... View Post
