I learned my lesson many years ago never be afraid to ask. I was out shopping with a friend at a flea market we both spotted something interesting. When I saw it I assumed that it was going to be out of my price range, but my friend walked over to it, and it was the deal of the day. That day changed my life, from that day on if I see something for sale I always inquire. And even if it is not for sale,I inquire. About a year ago while shopping at one of my favorite thrift shops I spotted a vintage dress form. I asked how much it was and they said it was not for sale. Every time I shopped I was hoping to see it for sale but no luck. I was standing in line the other day looking at this dress form and thought I will ask yet again. "Excuse me but I was wondering if that dress form is ... View Post
Porcelain And A Painting
I found a beautiful oil painting the other day while I was out treasure hunting. The painting itself is fabulous,I love the frame too but not gold. (Sorry for the dark photo, this was taken in my studio and the lighting was not great on this particular day.) I took it home and used Vintage Market And Design Furniture Paint in Porcelain. After painting it two coats of Porcelain I added Dark Umber wax.You can see the side by side on this photo. On the left side I used the dark wax,on the right side it's just painted with porcelain. You can see how the details on the frame really pop once you use the wax. After I applied the dark wax I used a clear on top because I wanted a softer look. Here is the frame now. I love this color,it's such a pretty soft pink. The wax adds a ... View Post

How To Dry Roses
One question I get often is how do I dry my roses. I am going to share how to dry roses. I don't know if there is a right way or a wrong way just sharing how I dry my roses. I guess it's no secret that my favorite flowers are roses, although there are many other flowers I enjoy. But this time of the year I rarely see any flowers at are market that are prettier than the roses. I enjoy my flowers until they are wilted over. Yes I still see beauty in my flowers even when they look like this. But once they reach this point, before the petals start to fall I take them out of the water and wrap the stems in a paper towel. Then I take a rubber band or some twine and wrap that around the paper towel. Then I simply hang them upside down. I try to fluff them a bit before I hang them ... View Post
Vintage Market Design Furniture Paint And Lucky Junk
When I started blogging I never knew how many new friends I would make and how many fun opportunities would come my way. My good Friend Janet from Lucky Junk recently asked me if I would be interested in teaching some painting workshops with the line she is carrying Vintage Market Design Furniture Paint. Of course I jumped at the chance! How fun to help her teach painting workshops and work with a new to me line of paint. Vintage Market paint is a chalk based paint. They have quite a selection of colors which I really like and the packaging is a little different. Instead of cans they come in see through containers so you can actually see the colors. The have four different sizes to choose from and the largest size 32 ounces is 28.95 a little cheaper than other chalk based paints ... View Post
Rachel Ashwell Curtains And A Tote
I have been playing in my studio mixing paint colors. It seems like pink is a favorite color with my totes lately so I decided to paint one more tote in pink. I used what I already had on hand which was Annie Sloan Antoinette and Old Ochre. And just for fun I added Miss Mustard Seeds Milk paint in Tricycle. I mentioned before that I like to take chances and experiment when I paint, never really knowing what color I will end up with. Yes I mixed chalk paint and milk paint. Not sure if this is recommended but I am a rebel ;-) I think this is my favorite so far,I may enjoy this one for a bit before it ends up in the shop. After I painted this I decided to try Miss Mustard Seeds white wax on this too. I love how soft the color looks when you use the wax, sort of a pretty glow. This ... View Post
